About

Julie Mastin is a nationally recognized advocate and speaker who transforms unimaginable loss into a movement for change. After losing her teenage daughter Caylee to suicide in 2023, Julie committed her life to breaking the silence around grief, teen mental health, and bullying. With raw honesty and resilience, she shares her story to empower parents, schools, and communities to do better for the next generation.
Julie is the founder of Be The Light, a community initiative and annual event that fosters remembrance, awareness, and healing for youth and families. Her work spans school advocacy, coalition-building with other bereaved parents, and developing national conversations about how institutions respond to suicide and student loss.
Through keynotes, panels, and workshops, Julie inspires audiences with the message: Shattered, not silent. She equips them with practical strategies for compassion, prevention, and action—turning tragedy into purpose.
