About
JR was raised in South Chicago where he listened to WLS and was influenced by the Eagles, Beatles, Average White Band, CCR, John Denver, Ohio Players, Elton John, Boston, Jackson Browne, Commodores, Neil Young, and so many more. He was interested in music early on and wanted to play drums in Jr High. However, all that was available at the time was Trombone. So he played Trombone for 2 years and only tinkered with drums.
He joined the Marines a few months out of High School and while deployed to Okinawa Japan he bought a Yamaha Acoustic at the PX. He was taught by a friend that played in bands and was able to play a number of songs. After a year he sold that guitar to buy a stereo and life went on.
32 years later in 2014 JR bought a beginner Ibanez acoustic and began the journey to play guitar again. His wife gave him 3 months of lessons for his Birthday. For these last 12 years JR always finds what makes guitar playing fun. And that keeps him practicing everyday. Some days for 4-6 hours.
After raising their children in Rio Rancho NM, Jeff and his wife moved to Edgewood NM in 2019. He plays in the East Mountains and in Albuquerque at open mics, bars, hotels, restaurants, and house concerts.
