Stand-Up Comedy – Technical Preferences

To ensure the best audience experience, stand-up comedy performances are optimized with the following setup:

Lighting
One focused spotlight on the performer
Low ambient lighting throughout the room is strongly preferred to draw audience focus to the stage
Darker rooms consistently produce better engagement and laughter

Stage
A low-profile stage is ideal
Performer should be slightly elevated above the audience, but not excessively high
Clear sightlines from all seating areas

Sound
Wired handheld microphone (preferred over wireless for reliability)
Standard mic stand (not a boom/music stand)
Adequate PA system suitable for room size (minimum requirement)

Room & Acoustics
Smaller to mid-sized rooms perform best
Ideal capacity: 100–300 guests
Low ceilings are preferred for better acoustics and crowd energy

Motivational Speaking – Technical Requirements

For keynote or motivational speaking engagements, the following is required:
Projector and screen capable of displaying a slideshow
