About

Joshua Alcius, was born on September 24, 1997 in Port-au-Prince. From the age of 2 he started to ride on his father's drums to play, seeing his passion for the instrument his father taught him to play. At 11 years old he was already the drummer of a HaĂŻtian-American church named "House To House" considering his talent on the drums.

By continuing to practice and develop his talent, one of the greatest choirs in Haiti appealed to him at 19 years old and since then he has been playing and touring with them for more than 3 years all over the country.

Joshua has also played with many Haitian artists such as: Palmyre séraphin,Gina cambry,Claude Aurélien,Charma Guillaume,Miu,Tifane,Quëen Bee,Misty-Jean,Shoomy,King-Kino,Samantha Normil,Bélo,Emmanuel Smith,Slooze JB,Makenson Brutus, and recently Darline Desca. To only mention those ones. He also won the first place in the drum competition in Haiti: "Le Batteur" (1st Edition 2019).

Additional booking notes

I provide my own complete drum kit for all performances, including a Pearl Roadshow drum set and Zildjian cymbals, as well as my own drumsticks, hardware, and accessories. This means I am fully self-sufficient and do not require a house kit or backline.

The only thing I request — when possible — is one microphone for my kick drum to help enhance the overall sound, especially in larger venues or outdoor settings. However, if a kick mic is not available at your venue or event, it’s no problem — I’m still fully able to perform and will adjust accordingly to deliver the best live experience possible.

I arrive early to set up, soundcheck, and make sure everything runs smoothly. My setup is compact, clean, and ready to adapt to your stage, whether it's for a wedding, church event, festival, or private show.

Let me know in advance if your space has any special audio needs or restrictions, and I’ll gladly work with you to make it seamless.

Services offered

Set list

As a professional drummer, I tailor my performance to meet the specific needs of your event. Instead of using a fixed set list, I perform based on the songs and styles you choose — whether it's jazz, pop, funk, gospel, R&B, soul, Afrobeat, Haitian traditional, or Latin music.

My role is to support the music you love. I can learn and play along to any track you provide, whether it's part of a live band or backing track. Just send me the set list or audio beforehand, and I’ll prepare accordingly. I use a monitor setup or in-ear system to stay locked into the groove and keep everything tight and professional.

I’ve played everything from smooth jazz wedding sets to upbeat funk shows, soulful gospel worship services, and cultural events with traditional Caribbean and African rhythms. No matter the genre, I’ll adapt my drumming to match the vibe and energy you're going for.

Whether you want a soft groove behind dinner music or high-energy rhythms that get people moving, I’ve got you covered.

If you don’t have a set list yet, no worries — I can also suggest songs and styles based on the type of event.

My goal is simple: to serve your music, your moment, and your audience with skill, respect, and creativity.

Let’s build a set that fits your vision.

Influences and inspiration

As a drummer, my playing is shaped by a powerful mix of personal experiences and world-class musicians who’ve helped me understand rhythm on a deeper level.

My first and most personal influence is my father, Alcius Tido, who introduced me to drumming from a young age. Watching him play taught me discipline, feel, and the emotional language of rhythm. He laid the foundation for how I approach music today.

I’ve also been heavily inspired by world-renowned drummers like Larnell Lewis, Thomas Lang, Thomas Pridgen, Tony Royster Jr., and Dave Weckl. Their techniques, energy, and musical vocabulary have challenged me to expand my skills and explore new genres with confidence and precision.

Horacio “El Negro” Hernández and Akira Jimbo have both influenced my love and respect for Latin and fusion drumming, teaching me the beauty of complex rhythms played with soul and control. I admire how they blend tradition with innovation.

From my Haitian roots, I’m inspired by artists like Welmyr Jean-Pierre, whose approach to harmony and rhythm opened my ears to deeper musical textures, and David CassĂ©us, a masterful Haitian bassist whose grooves sharpened my sense of timing and pocket.

I also draw huge inspiration from genre-bending bands like Snarky Puppy, known for their musicianship and emotional depth, and Ghost-Note, led by Robert “Sput” Searight, which fuses funk, hip-hop, and world rhythms in creative and explosive ways.

All of these influences — from global legends to hometown heroes — have shaped how I play, listen, and serve the music. They’ve taught me that drumming isn’t just about keeping time; it’s about telling a story, honoring your roots, and connecting with people through rhythm.
