About
Jonathan is an artist engaged in inspiring and educating audiences as diverse as his musical interests. Whether it be on the classical guitar, electric guitar or lute and period instruments, his performances offer "exciting and technically brilliant" (Marvin Dickau) displays of the wealth of the musical language.
Versatile as a soloist, chamber musician and continuo player, Jonathan frequently distinguishes himself; recently performing as a finalist in the 2017 McGill Concerto competition, and receiving the McGill David Moyse Guitar scholarship in 2016 and 2015. Solo performances have included concerts with the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble and for the Governor General of Canada. Jonathan has performed widely in Canada and the United States.
He is a founding member of the Cygnus trio (Flute, violin, guitar), which places an emphasis on performing not only in traditional venues, but in reaching out to the community through events such as visits to women's shelters, house concerts, and children's programs. As a lutenist he performs frequently with Montréal based ensemble Les Méandres.
Engaging in the creation and performance of new music is highly important to him, and he has premiered music by Juro Kim Feliz, Brice Gatinet, Beatrice Ferreira, Charles Zoll, Patrick Walker and Karalyn Schubring.
Jonathan is currently pursuing a B. Mus in Performance with a minor in Early Music at McGill’s Schulich School of Music, and studies under the tutelage of Jérôme Ducharme and Sylvain Bergeron.
Jonathan plays a guitar built by John Park.
