Overview
Hello! My name is Toby Ho and I’m a solo instrumental acoustic guitarist serving the GTA and surrounding areas. I provide solo instrumental acoustic guitar music for special events such as weddings, parties, corporate events, etc. I perform finger-style acoustic guitar without the use of any backing tracks, setting an intimate mood without overpowering conversations of your guest. My setlist is composed of popular tunes covering a wide genre of music including oldies, pop, rock, folk,R&B and jazz.
I have studied Jazz at Humber College and have been teaching and performing for over a decade. I look forward to working with you and bring an elevated musical ambiance to your event! :)

I saw right away from his videos that he was an incredible talent, but he really blew us all away once he started playing. Toby was fantastic. He set the vibe with mellow classics which was perfect for my mother in law's birthday celebration. He was friendly and so accommodating - learning a new song days before the event to play help bring my father in laws speech to life - everyone loved it. He was happy to take our several requests late into the night, and turned our event into a cheerful and memorable sing along. Although it was a 70th birthday celebration, Toby helped create a millennial's dream with hits from Usher, Mariah, Backstreet Boys, and the Cranberries. But we cannot forget when he played classics from the Beatles to the BeeGees! We absolutely loved having Toby play at our event and cannot wait to reach out to him for next! Thank you Toby!

We hired Toby for our wedding banquet and he was amazing! He was professional and polite in all our communication before the wedding. On the wedding day, he came early to set up. We had some issues with our own audio equipment, and Toby came to the rescue and fixed everything for us, even though that was not part of his job. Thank you so much for improvising!
From our entrance, to our first dance, to speeches, to saying goodnight, Toby made all the transitions seamless. He is professional and knows exactly what’s going on during the night and played the right music. Near the end, my nephew and nieces were running around, and Toby even played some kiddie songs and kept them entertained, what a lovely sight.
His music set the perfect mood for the entire evening. Many of our guests commented on how great he was, and I absolutely agree!
What makes Toby different is his passion and love for music. I wanted to forget all my guests and sit there and just watch him perform all night! He is so incredibly talented! I would definitely recommend him to anyone having a wedding or party. Toby, please continue what you do because you are excellent at it, and I hope more people will get to experience your music.

September 19, 2021Absolutely incredible at our wedding cocktail hour!
Let me start of by saying that when we found Toby, he was extremely professional and easy to work with. We provided him with possible songs that we would like for him to play for our wedding cocktail hour and he already had many of them in his repertoire. He was diligent and arrived to the venue before his hired time to set up.
When my wife and I arrived at our cocktail hour, Toby was already serenading the guests with beautiful renditions of familiar instrumental covers of top 40 songs as well as classics to accommodate all age groups. He was very interactive and had a great presence that made many of our guests sing along with him while he played classics such as Hotel California. Many of our guests had amazing comments about him and were very happy with his song selections.
My wife and I would 100% hire him again for any function and we highly recommend him for your cocktail hours or any events.

What to expect
I perform authentic and stripped-back renditions of popular songs in solo instrumental guitar format. Nowadays, folks refer to this as fingerstyle guitar or as the Jazz guitarist like to call it, 'chord melody'. In other words, songs are performed entirely live without the use of any backing tracks or loopers. Just one guitar and my two hands.
During my performance, the music is subtle and lays a perfect backdrop and ambiance for cocktail hours and parties without getting in the way of conversation.
For the typically wedding cocktail hour/reception or corporate/party event, I perform three 45 minute sets for a total performance duration of approximately 135 minutes. I will not require anything from the client or the venue as my PA is fully portable and battery operated.

Influences and inspiration
I've grown up listening to the popular tunes of the 80's and 90's during my childhood/teenage years but I'm also inspired by everything from the oldies such as the Beatles to modern chart topping artist such as Ed Sheeran. Guitarist who inspired me to perform songs in solo fingerstyle arrangements include Tommy Emmanuel, Andy McKee, and Sungha Jung just to name a few.
