John McCarthy was born in Queens, New York, while Lorraine Lisa (known as Rain) hails from North Bergen, New Jersey. Both relocated to the suburbs of Long Island during their early childhood. In the late 1990s, Rain served as the lead vocalist for a signed original band, where John auditioned and joined as second guitarist. It was in this group that they honed their distinctive style of singing, harmonizing, and songwriting as a duo. Today, Johnny & Rain McCarthy (performing as Johnny Rain Band) have released three full-length albums, along with numerous licensed covers, building an impressive discography of original material. John's innovative guitar technique has been instrumental in shaping their signature sound. Drawing inspiration from rock, folk-rock, and country influences, their music enjoys regular airplay and exposure.
