About
Born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana, he began writing and performing spoken word during his junior year at East Chicago Central High School. Leaving East Chicago in 2002, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Relocating to San Diego, he would continue to write and began performing seriously in 2008 while located in The Middle East. His big break would come in the summer of 2009, when he befriended DJ Redlite, a well respected California DJ who plugged him with the spoken word venue that he DJ'ed on a weekly basis. Over the years, his poetry has consistently grown. His brash, over the top, in your face style caused DJ Redlite to coin him quote on quote "The 50 cent of poetry." He writes on any and all topics. However, the main motivation for his pieces comes from the harsh reality of the East Chicago streets in which he grew up in. Aside from spoken word, JoeMac is a reknown motivational speaker who has touched many with his personal trials and how he has overcome them to achieve the success he enjoys today. He has released two well received spoken word albums in "Mic to Mouth Resuscitation" and "Surgical." Along with opening for R&B acts Joe and Jon B., he has shared the stage with some of poetry's heavyweights, which include Rudy Francisco, Ise Lyfe and Paul Mabon to name a few. Currently, his third spoken word album "No Filters" is in the works. It will be his most well constructed album, as he allows his fans to get in depth with his personal life. JoeMac is by far one of the most powerful voices in spoken word. As he states so adimently, "It's not about who is the loudest in the room, but who the people listen too."
