About
Ken has been a professional saxophonist for almost 30 years and is currently an educator/private instructor/performer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Playing alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones for a variety of events, Ken loves to meet new musicians and be an entertainer when not teaching or spending time with his family. Weddings, dinners, fundraisers, Saxy Santa, and private parties are all in Ken's wheelhouse.
After graduating in December 2000 from Hardin-Simmons University, Ken went to the University of Kentucky to study with Jazz professor Miles Osland. During his two year stay, the UK Jazz Ensemble I and Mega-Sax I groups won both the outstanding Jazz Ensemble and Small Combo awards at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival in 2003. Ken received his Master of Music degree in saxophone performance, jazz emphasis, from the University of Kentucky (2003).
As a saxophonist, Ken has performed or has been a member of the Osland Saxophone Quartet, People's Choice, The Metrognomes Big Band, DiMartino/Osland Jazz Orchestra (DOJO), Lexington Philharmonic, Abilene Philharmonic, Symphony of Southeast Texas, Night & Day Jazz Orchestra, the Stonebriar Community Jazz Ensemble, and most recently with Kris Berg's Metroplexity Big Band.
Ken is currently the saxophonist for Pure Collins: A Serious Tribute to Phil Collins, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and runs his own 9 piece jazz group, Linear Groove, where he plays baritone saxophone.
Ken has been the Director of Bands at McKinney Christian Academy in McKinney, Texas, for 12 years. He has been married to Catie for 17 years and has 5 wonderful children.
