Jazz Front--normally a piano/vibes, bass and drums trio--is a tasteful and flexible ensemble that plays a variety of jazz styles. For clients who are looking for a group larger than a trio, we also have top-flight vocalists and first-call sax and guitar players that we work with as required.
A big thank you to Jazz Front for being a part of our wedding celebration! Their communication was great as we were preparing and they were very responsive to our requests and questions, really taking the time to make sure that our event was just as we imagined. The music on the day sounded terrific - before, during, and after the ceremony.
True performers, from the customized set list to the era-specific outfits.
Jazz Front plays tasteful jazz in a variety of styles. We're comfortable and effective as either mainstage entertainment at a big event like a street festtival, or as subtle background music at a cocktail hour. Throw a party, and we'll turn it into the best jazz club in town, if that's what you're after!
Additional Booking Notes
We're a simple and flexible band to accomodate. We need about a 10x10 area to set up in, with normal (120V@15A) power. For outdoor gigs, we really like a tent of some sort, to keep us out of the sun and rain.
Drawing on his vast network of local musicians, Minneapolis drummer Jeffrey Dunitz created Jazz Front in 2005. Vince Hyman, an accomplished pianist/vibraphonist adds his dynamic and unique style to all the music Jazz Front plays. The group is rounded out by bassists Eric Graham, Brian Roessler, F. Michael Miller and Harry Pontiff (as available), and Jeffrey's network of other vocalists and instrumentalists to assemble a top-notch team of musicians for any performance. While 90% of the gigs Jazz Front plays are weddings and corporate parties, this is not a "wedding band" or "cocktail act" per se. Jazz Front is a serious jazz group, who happen to be available for private engagements. As Jeffrey likes to say "we bring the jazz club to you".
Jazz Standards from the 40's, 50's, 60's and newer tunes, as well as original compositions.
