I am professional jazz and world guitarist with more than 15 years of experience. I have performed at corporate events, weddings, wine tastings, breweries, concert halls, house concerts, fine dining restaurants, conferences, private parties, national music festivals, and more than fifteen universities. My music is both sophisticated and fun to listen/dance to. As a classically-trained guitarist and a Doctor in Ethnomusicology, I have made extensive research on world music traditions and developed a unique blend of styles including Spanish Flamenco, Jazz, Pop, Classical, Brazilian, Cuban, and Afro-Peruvian music.
Available formats: Solo Guitar || Duo || Trio || Quartet || Quintet
We hired Carlos for a large corporate event with very little oversight. He communicated EXTREMELY well, was VERY flexible, and was SUPER polite and professional.
We will absolutely hire him again if the need arises :)
Our guests loved Carlos at our wedding. We hired him to really make the wedding theme pop, and he brought a variety of musical styles. He played for 150 guest and we wish we could have hired him for a bit longer. He was great and very responsive leading up to the event. He is so talented. My husband is a musician and was blown away with how he strummed his heart out. So awesome! Thank you Carlos!
Thanks Carlos for playing at my afternoon wedding reception. The music was perfect for the occasion. You are an incredibly talented guitarist and very timely and professional. Thank you for accommodating my short notice song request, I really appreciated it. Thanks again!
We invited Carlos to provide live guitar entertainment for our "Wedding/July 4 BBQ" on Martha's Vineyard. Of course, he was timely, professional, and courteous. More importantly, he is a truly talented artist who enriched our special event with a balanced and beautiful repertoire of pop, reggae, jazz, and classical selections... Our guests and we were VERY impressed -- He added great value to the evening... Thank you Carlos!
Response from Carlos Odria - World Guitarist:
Thanks for your kind words, Brian! ~Carlos
Carlos and his quartet were simply incredible. Our event was the first of its kind we’ve ever done for our nonprofit and I am more than pleased that we hired Carlos. I am still receiving emails and calls as to how professional, creative and talented the band was. Thank you Carlos...we’ll be hiring you again!
On June 2nd 2018 Carlos Odria filled our venue with the most beautiful music. My only regret is that I was too busy to really stop and enjoy it. He required almost nothing from me for set up, I simply pointed him in the right direction and he took it from there. Which, if you are a party or event planner you will know that this is a very important quality in a performer. He could not have been a better fit for our event. I highly recommend Carlos Odria.
Response from Carlos Odria - World Guitarist:
Thank you for your wonderful review, Rachael! I am very glad that you enjoyed the music :)
I met Carlos when he was playing at an event at Worcester State University and I stopped what I was doing and just listened. The sounds coming from his guitar were beautiful! I immediately booked him for an event. Carlos is professional, reliable and makes magic with his guitar! Carlos was a hit at our fundraiser event and we can't wait to have him back. His price is also affordable for non-profits. Book him fast and book him now!!!!
In August of 2017 I went to a local venue which featured guitarist Carlos Odria and trio. My wife and I were immediately impressed with Mr. Odria's jazz repertoire, sound and setup, and communication with his audience. We are both professional musicians, performers, and educators and have 20 years experience post graduate degree in the field. Over the years we have identified our opinion of quality and professional music entertainment, particularly in jazz and classical styles. We immediately decided to approach Mr. Odria and request his services for a family member's September wedding ceremony, knowing he was more than qualified and we would not be dissapointed. Mr. Odria was hired and paid for a time period of approximately one hour. He arrived to the venue substantially early, in proper attire, and with all equipment necessary. Moreover, Mr. Odria welcomed imcoming guests with appropriate music selections beyond the request, accompanied the ceremony with tasteful classical selections, and saw the guests out with additional recessional material. His guitar style is a rare find, warm tone, finger picked, and worldly, encapsulating world latin jazz and classical styles. His business demeanor also exceptional with timely responses, accomodations, fee, and presentation. The families were monumentally pleased with his performance and as it was my responsibility to take care of, he really made us look good too!
My wife and I wholeheartedly recommend Carlos Odria as a tasteful, unique, and professional addition to any event.
Respectfully,
Keith R
We we're fortunate to have Carlos perform at a few of our park events. Sadly, he has left our area. He was a joy to work with. He was early, prepared, and super entertaining. The crowd always loved his music. He is missed. But I know he is enriching someone else's event.
I've been booking shows of all sorts in venues of all sizes for 15 years, in several cities big and small. If you gave every performer or artist you worked with a 10-point report card, you'd usually hope for 3 or 4 A's that balance out the rest of the B's or C's, or maybe even D's if they are that good. Not just talent, but personality, punctuality, promotional support, etc.
With Carlos, it has always been A+'s across the board. And we have worked together on and off over the course of a few years. Every time, an effortless homerun. No bs. No airs. No problems. And every time it has translated into those magical audience nights, whether we were in a high-end wine lounge or a garden party, or on a stage in front of a big crowd. Before he left town for amazing reasons (a true loss to Tallahassee), he was at the top of my rolodex.
He arrives early, and gets right to work. He's a great guy, and a consummate professional. And when I say no airs, I mean he's just a guy who wants to do the perfect job every time, as the moment dictates. Sometimes, you book a musician from 9-11 in a social setting, and they insist on telling you that the show must start right at 9:01. Sometime that is impractical. Maybe the crowd is still rolling in. "Was thinking we should hold til 9:20?" Always a nod. And would roll until 11:20 or maybe even a few minutes later if he could tell the party was still bumping, without any expectation. (Seriously, some people scoff at the idea, or would refuse an encore if the crowd was screaming for it.)
He's the kind of performer you can communicate with using only your eyes, hand cues, and shrugs from across the room, and you both know what you are talking. Takes short breaks, and you never have to track him down to give him a nudge. (Again, some people….) And on occasion, the party wants to keep going, and you ask if he wouldn't mind going one more half set for commensurate pay. If he can, of course.
None of this even touches his skills or talents, which are second to none. Seasoned musician or untrained audience member, it is impossible to hear him play without being moved. In just about any setting, motion and movement are key to audience energy and enjoyment, and his repertoire and skills are infectious. Spontaneous dancing usually occurs, and if you book, you know the feeling of that magic moment when, unprompted, the momentum has swollen, tapping feet don't scratch the itch any more, and all of a sudden one and then 4 couples are up, and the party has started.
Carlos also provides an exposure to a musical lexicon that just can't be found and experienced with such accessibility. "World music" hardly does it justice, because of all of the inhabitants of that space. It's other-worldly music with familiar foundations.
And there hasn't been one event where the end of his finale wasn't met by uproarious standing ovation. People stay longer, lavish praise on the establishment, tip well, and go home with one of those memories you would want in the movie about you. They talk about it.
If you can't make an amazing night around Carlos, the problem might be on your side of the house somewhere.
I couldn't recommend him enough, and if you can't tell, he is sorely missed in the Tallahassee music scene, because it is missing a component without him. His chair remains reserved. Also Carlos has a standing offer .... if he is ever coming through our area, I'll build a returning legend event around him just so the community can have one more memory and get to experience him again, and so he can travel lighter. The events for the booker and promoter are just as magical, which is rare, so the privilege is as much mine.
Could not recommend enough.
We have had the pleasure of having Carlos Odria perform at several functions from gallery openings to casual parties. He deftly matched his music to the events, in both solo and combos, and has always been dependable. Since he has moved to the Boston area, we have missed seeing him perform locally in addition to hiring him for private gigs.
Carlos has played here at Stone Cow Brewery multiple times and we keep asking him back for more! He provides top-notch entertainment for all ages and is a joy to work with. We love to bring his Latin American guitar into our 1830's barn the sound is amazing!
Consummate professional. Easy to work with. Great musician. Our guests loved Carlos and his group, in fact they stayed on the dance floor till we turned the lights off! We've hired entertainers for the St. Augustine Spanish Wine Festival each year for six years, and Carlos Odria was the best we've ever had.
Carlos provided superb entertainment for several parties in our home when he lived in Tallahassee, Florida. His musical style appeals to a broad audience on a highly-professional, yet down-to-earth level. Each performance was outstanding and will be remembered by the lucky guests forever. We also attended Carlos' local gigs whenever possible; now we need to travel to the Boston area to catch Carlos. He is an excellent solo performer, as well as in any group that he assembles for a wide variety of jazz and world music.
Carlos Odria has been providing beautiful music for several local venues and events. He is a passionate guitarist who pours his heart and soul into his guitar for us to enjoy. His music has been the highlight of our events and everyone is aware of his amazing talent.
Carlos and his guitar are one soul finely tuned to make you feel every note. His music is engaging and absolutely beautiful. It fills a room with a rich culture of sounds and rhythms that bring out the best in people. When he plays and I scan the room I see nothing but smiles and admiration - makes me proud to know him.
Carlos Odria and his musicians were a hit at our 30th Birthday, Masquerade Ball! Our 100+ guests danced to the instrumental music with all our loved ones. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to book for their next event or wedding! I know we will. Thanks again!
Carlos and his trio performed as the house band at the Parlour Jazz Jam, and they were superb. As soon as Carlos performed his opening chords, conversation stopped and people turned to look at each other, mouths open. Not only is Carlos technically expert, but he brings palpable emotion to a riveting performance.
Carlos is always a favorite when he plays at our location (Basil n' Spice, Thai Cuisine). Ever since he arrived tot he Worcester, MA scene - he has been collecting more and more fans. His control of the Guitar is amazing. His fluency with the various Latin jazz styles just gets you feeling like you should be up there dancing.
