April 19, 2023Really added to the event!
I hired Jayson as a guitarist and asked him to put together a small band for an event I was hosting at Olivet Nazarene Univeristy, and he handled everything! The band was punctual, perfect for the environment, and really enhanced the event. They did a wonderful job and were super easy to work with! I’d absolutely recommend him for anyone looking for musicians!

April 19, 2023Punctual and prepared
When Jayson played in my pit orchestra for Grease he was punctual to every rehearsal and show night. He was also well prepared with his music preparation and equipment choices to create a variety of guitar sounds.

What to expect
As a jazz guitarist, I am well-versed in a variety of styles. I can play solo jazz or with various groups including duos, trios, quartets, or quintets with vocalists, saxophones, trumpets, bass players, drummers, and pianists. The group I typically play with is different every time depending on who is available to play or what the venue specifically requests.
About
I started playing guitar at the age of 10, learning rock and blues by ear. Some of my past guitar instructors include Freddie Franken and Joshua Achiron. I am currently finishing my Bachelor of Arts degree from Olivet Nazarene University where I studied Jazz Studies and Guitar Performance. During my time at Olivet, I have played a number of professional gigs including background jazz for special events, restaurants, wine bars, coffee shops, and weddings. I have always played professionally for musical theater pit orchestras, churches, and other contemporary pop music venues. In addition, I have also been the bandleader for several groups and have performed shows at various locations in the Chicagoland area. After graduation, I will be attending the University of Louisville as a Graduate Assistant to pursue my Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance studying jazz guitar under renowned virtuoso, Craig Wagner.
Additional booking notes
I have no specific technical requirements. I typically bring all of my own gear.

Influences and inspiration
When I first started playing the guitar, I dove deep into the music of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and B.B. King, and John Mayer. Since I started studying jazz, some of my favorite jazz musicians include Grant Green, John Coltrane, Joe Henderson, and Woody Shaw.
