Jack he has always had a profound love for music. His mother had him listening to Jazz since he was a baby and his father used to be a rock organist. Aside from his family influences, he began piano lessons at age seven and continued through until age twelve when he had discovered his second love, the electric bass.

For the remainder of his teenage years Jack was captivated by everything that revolved around the bass, particularly when he was fifteen years old and heard the music of Jaco Pastorius for the first time. This led to him privately begin studying jazz and landed him a gig in a 20-piece big band in Manchester, UK led by former lecturer at Leeds College of Music, Stuart Riley.

During his collegiate career at Middlesex University in London, Jack studied the rudiments of Jazz harmony and rhythm, while focusing on both technique and with regular work around the Greater London area he built upon his repertoire of standards and originals songs. At Middlesex 2:1 he received a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz, with honours.

Since then Jack have had extensive world touring experiences working on both land and sea. He started his professional career out of London, where he played in several big and small ensembles. Then he began to branch out internationally by playing shows in such countries as Scotland, Czech Republic, and even the Canary Islands, Spain.

Continuing on with his international involvements, Jack completed a stint with Carnival Cruise Lines, as a member of their on board show band. Through this experience he was able to enhance his reading and knowledge of top-40 pop repertoire among many other genres.

After Carnival, Jack moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. There he dived into the jazz scenes of both Fort Lauderdale and Miami where he had regular residencies with his own jazz ensembles. He also became a member of Mike Norris's 17 piece Jazz orchestra who played weekly at "All That Jazz Cafe" in Sunset, Florida.

More recently, Jack continues to freelance, teach, record and play regular gigs with both big and small ensembles here in New York City. A few of his recent projects include the Off Broadway musical "Oklahoma!" with the theater production company "Maggie's Little Theater". He completed 3 more cruise contracts with Norwegian and Seabourn, respectively. Recorded and gigged with the band "The Merrymakers Orchestrina". Working regularly at a variety of different functions with high energy cover bands ("Instant Gratification, Hotelheads, BOD of NY")

Jack Redford is available now for weddings, club work, recordings/session work and corporate events. He has all his own gear and will travel in the Tri-state area.
