About

J witnessed his first real magic show at the age of 13. He was hooked from that moment on. Receiving a magic set on his 14th birthday, launched him on a journey that he remains on to this very day.
Early on, J became fascinated with Harry Houdini, and after discovering that they share the same March 24th birthday, he became even more obsessed with learning everything he could about the great magician and escape artist. J has been recognized as a Houdini historian, while also receiving media attention for the same.
By the time he was 15, he was performing throughout the region, receiving TV and newspaper coverage along the way. He was a regular on “The Fun Club” a live audience children’s show that aired on NBC affiliate KOAM. He was also, at the time, the youngest magician ever to be invited to perform at The Magic Castle in Hollywood, California.
When J turned 16, and became mobile, he would drive his 1966 Mustang to shows that were outside his region. By this time, he was performing several major stage illusions, including Houdini’s famed Metamorphosis Cabinet, as well as escapes. He even performed underwater escapes during this time.
When J was 17, he went on a cross-country “hitch-hiking” tour, that took him throughout the lower US. During this adventure, he made enough money to survive on by performing impromptu magic for fellow travelers at truck stops, and street magic in the major cities he passed through. During that journey, J performed street magic in New Orleans, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Memphis, to name just a few.
Prior to his 18th birthday, J enlisted into the US Navy. During his enlistment, he continued to perform magic, entertaining fellow military personnel and citizens in several countries, including; The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Australia and others.
From (phone number hidden)7, J began producing a children’s show, appropriately titled, “The Mr. Joe Show.” That show included magic, comedy and storytelling. During this time period, he performed before tens of thousands of children, and made numerous television appearances. He quickly became the most sought-after children’s entertainer in the Midwest 4-State region.
J has continued to study and perform magic, as well as his continued research into Harry Houdini, ever since seeing that first performance.
In 2001, J presented a Harry Houdini tribute tour, performing many of the illusions that were made famous by the Master Magician.
J discontinued performing strictly magic for a while, and in 2004, began performing stand-up comedy, taking him throughout the US and Canada. In 2017, J gave up the comedy scene, and now performs stand-up on rare occasions.
In 2018, J dusted off his magic wand, and is once again returning to his first love: MAGIC! He has performed a few limited shows, as he prepares for several events in 2025.
