Wonderful Musician & Person!

We feel so fortunate to have found Sam to play guitar for us on our special day! His talent with the guitar is spectacular and added something truly magical to our wedding day. From the moment we began planning to the final chords of his performance, Sam was the epitome of kindness and professionalism. He navigated every step with grace and ease, making the entire process a breeze!
He effortlessly transitioned from modern hits to timeless classics, ensuring there was something for everyone. We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have had Sam playing at our ceremony.
If you're in search of a gifted artist who not only brings unparalleled skill but is also an absolute joy to work with, look no further!

Perfect musician for entire wedding day!

As stated in other reviews, Sam is not only a talented performer but also so kind, quick to respond, and such a great energy to be around. His adaptations not only convey the spirit of the original pieces but also, through no doubt much hard work, have been crafted so that they seem as if they were written for the instruments being played. He was so flexible throughout the planning process and was focused on making our day exactly what we wanted.

What might have impressed us most is how adaptable Sam and his team were and how they read the room. They played across several genres throughout the evening, from classics during the ceremony, lively jazz during cocktail hour and dinner, to fun-upbeat tunes during the reception once the crowd wanted to dance! They matched and enhanced the energy in the room all night. Before working with Sam, we saw a ton of great reviews about his classic ceremony music, but not quite as many mentioned if he also played for the reception. Let us reassure you that Sam is up for it all! Their videos online (while great examples of how talented of a musician Sam in) honestly don’t do them justice to their range, their talent, and their energy. Understand that in person they bring a presence and an awareness that just can’t be conveyed any other way than experiencing it.

We highly recommend Sam to anyone reading this, whether for a wedding or honestly any other event, and whether in Asheville or beyond.

wedding day

Sam did an amazing job playing the guitar for wedding precession, ceremony, and reception. The songs we chose for him to play were very cool renditions of the originals!! His style of playing was perfect for the atmosphere of our wedding, and it would be suitable for anything you would be looking for! Not only was he on time and set up quickly, he was also extremely professional about every step of his process. Couldn't be happier and more appreciative for having him be a part of our day!! You rock !!

What to expect

Wedding Packages
Rehearsal Dinners, ceremonies, cocktail hours and receptions are all brought to life with live music! The three requests are often used for the wedding party entrance, procession & recession at ceremonies or the first dances at the reception.

Sam’s Solo Guitar
A life-long guitarist, Sam Irvin IV is grateful to share his craft. His specialty is an expansive classical and jazz repertoire to serve as a graceful backdrop for special events. One of Sam’s greatest passions as a performer is to arrange songs for guitar to bring his client’s dreams to life. Sam can assist you in choosing meaningful musical possibilities to bring the magic to the moment that you envision. Whether you’re looking for an elegant vibe or a mellow mood, Sam is the perfect choice!

String Combos
Guitar and violin compliment one another wonderfully because the guitarist can provide a robust accompaniment to support the violinist’s expressive melodies. Sam and the select few players in his rotation (including Kate Bryant, Hanako Hjersman and Linda Kendall-Fields) aim to offer a consistently light, fun and sophisticated performance whether it’s at a wedding, a corporate event or anywhere else! The expansive repertoire covers a variety of traditional classical standards (think Bach, Beethoven, Debussy…) and modern jazz/popular selections (from classics to now, bossas and swing, top 40, country, world folk… more!). Any atmosphere is within reach! Add cello or double-bass for a string trio to achieve an even fuller sound.

Jazz Ensemble

Sam can use a loop pedal to create live backing tracks with his guitar and to sometimes incorporate trumpet, expanding his solo performance. He and another guitarist (like Andy John or Andy Jurik) can team up for a duet to accompany one another for improvisation. Melanie Chopko and Sam are working on a guitar/keyboard duet that features the former’s vocal talents. Guitar/Bass/Drums is a popular trio setup that brings a bit more energy to the festivities and a quartet with a lead soloist (singer or instrumentalist) can really shine. Jazz music is super flexible, meant for experimentation, and the old familiar swing, latin or ballad tunes can be showcased in so many different ways. It’s a blast to improvise and see what happens!

Custom Combinations
Maybe you’re interested in a specific instrumental option not listed above. Trumpet/Trombone duo? Flute/Guitar/Voice trio? Irvin Music Studio can provide soloists, duets and trios consisting of any combination of these instruments: Guitar, Violin, Flute, Piano, Voice, Trombone, Trumpet, Bass, Ukulele, Synthesizer, Chromatic Harmonica, Drumset… and if you’re interested in a more alternative choice, consider Dinobirds, an effect-heavy, improvisational, “background rock” duo composed of Sam & Zack on guitar, drums and synthesizers.

*Upcharges available to augment time, add extra requests or provide M.C. services. Ask about bundles & lower pricing for non-peak time bookings! Most of all, thank you!
