When I'm hired for a solo gig, it's typically for something fairly quiet, for smaller audiences, or for background music.
I show up on time and dressed appropriately for the event. I check in with my contact and whoever I need to talk to for technical or organizational setup. We discuss the current plan - where I'm playing, at what time, what cues I might need to look for, when I will take breaks, where I can plug in if I'm amplified, if I've parked in the correct location, et cetera.
I get set up, I play beautiful fiddle music as requested - typically in 45-minute sets - I check back in with the organizers if necessary during breaks to make sure that volume/placement/theme are okay and nothing has changed in the schedule, and we finish the event.
My name is Amy and I've been playing the violin since I was three years old. I've played concert halls and neighborhood bars, weddings and funerals, rock shows and folk festivals, science fiction conventions and corporate mixers, a solo album and session tracks for other people's projects.
I'm in around seven bands at any given time.
I can bring solo acoustic fiddle for performances up to 50 people.
I can bring solo acoustic fiddle and a small amplifier for wide-open outdoor performances, or indoor performances with up to around 150 people.
For an extra charge, I can bring solo acoustic fiddle and a small PA system setup should you need better projection to a larger audience than 150.
