Overview

Hyapatia Lee is the Blessed Woman for the Lost River Band of the Cherokees. She is a member of SAG and AFTRA and has enormous experience speaking to audiences young and old, large and small. Her talks often incorporate traditional singing and drumming as well as other ceremonial elements when permitted and requested. Medicine stories are like fables that help us to see life from a new point of view, get a better perspective on our situation, and find better ways to navigate through the maze of life. Hyapatia has written five books on the Native Strength path and hosts a TV show based on the books that can be seen in several US cities and on ROKU channel OSI 74.

What to expect

Hyapatia begins by using music, drumming and when permitted, smudging (purifying) with sage and sweetgrass to enhance the experience and immerse the listener into the culture of her people.

We each have inside of us a little boy and a little girl, a man and a woman and a wise elder. It does not matter if we are male or female, we all have both sexes inside us. It is when we do not listen to these helpers that we stumble and fall. The stronger we make the connection to these personas, the more centered we will become.

The wise elders are like parents who shower us with unconditional love while guiding us with their wisdom. They have the answer to any question or problem we may encounter in life and, if the connection is strong, can get us through anything.

The children allow us to enjoy life, find the humor and beauty in all things and give us the quality of life we crave and deserve.

The adults are responsible for our daily existence and it is they who dominate most people's lives. Many of us never allow our adults to rest while we communicate with our children or elders. A majority of us do not realize we have the wise elders to rely on and so this connection is not strong and healthy.

Hyapatia can help with this inner dialogue, giving us confidence, understanding, independence and a path to happiness that increases our productivity, effectiveness, and quality of life.

About

Hyapatia Lee is one of the premier authorities on Native American methods of self-help for emotional strength. As a registered member of the Southeastern Cherokee Council, Inc., she held the position of Blessed Woman for the Lost River Band where some of her responsibilities included conducting sweat lodges and healing ceremonies, leading singing and drumming circles and teaching the Cherokee language. She is a frequent pow-wow dancer and has danced in the Sundance ceremony.
After studying with numerous medicine men and women across North America, Hyapatia began writing a series of books on the Native American system of mental health. Native Strength - The First Step on the Path to an Indomitable Life was the first to be released in August of 2016.
