The Hot Club of Buffalo is a 4-piece gypsy jazz band from…Buffalo, NY! The group can also be 5-pieces with the addition of a sax & clarinet player. The band plays a brand of jazz known as Gypsy Jazz...or Gypsy Swing. The style was created in the 1930’s by the legendary 2-fingered guitarist, Django Reinhardt. Gypsy Jazz blends American big band swing with exotic European Gypsy sounds.
The music is performed entirely on acoustic instruments. The rhythm guitar takes the place of a drum set. The guitars, strings, and even the picks are specially chosen to get that unique gypsy sound!
The Hot Club of Buffalo approaches this vintage music with a modern sensibility. Riffs from Bach, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and Steely Dan are common. And dance-friendly world music, like Bossa Nova and Rhumba are a part of every show. This is fun, happy, danceable music loved by young and old alike.

We bring our own PA system and all necessary equipment. We typically need only a nearby power outlet. If the event is a festival or concert where a PA is provided, we set up our back-line and need 4 line-outs and 1 mic out. See how easy we are!
