Swing away with Gary Farr & His All Star Big Band consisting of 17 musicians and two singers. Great for corporate and social events, concerts and jazz festivals.
Gary Farr & His Swing and Party Funk Band offers a smaller 7-10 piece band that is a little more casual and diverse in their repertoire from swing to current top hits with a heavy lean towards funk. Designed for dance parties and lots of party dance music.
Gary Farr can also be booked as a piano jazz quartet, trio, duo or soloist, depending on your needs and budget.
What a great band! The guest of honor said so many times that they made the party. They arrive on time, can play just about anything you request, even a little reggae, and are such a talented, nice, friendly group of musicians. Highly recommended!!
Thank you for a great night of entertainment. My husband and I were really impressed with the professionalism and caliber of the musicians in this band at the Funky Biscuit. We were surprised of the blend of music from Buddy Rich, to The Beatles to Lady GaGa.
Can't wait to enjoy them again.
If you're looking for a fantastic evening of awesome big band music played by some of the best musicians ever, Gary Farr and His All Star Big Band are the ticket at The Funky Biscuit in Boca's Royal Palm Place. Everyone said Tony Lavender was amazing, but listening to him sing and play the drums in person was beyond phenomenal. Gary Farr has found the best of the best and put them together on one stage. The repertoire ranged from Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich and Henry Mancini to The Beatles and Lady Gaga for an encore. It was really fun when the trumpet players got up to show their stuff. There was a superb trombone solo, and of course Ron Fattorusso on sax went all out. Glad Gary is bringing them back on Jan 29. And funkybiscuit.com says they will play Feb 12 -- perfect for Valentine's weekend.
There’s no doubt that Big Band music is coming back.
Another confirmation of that was clearly established in South Florida Sunday night. Gary Farr and His All Star Big Band scored a major victory for the Big Band genre with a knock-out performance at the Funky Biscuit club in Boca Raton, Florida.
It was billed as Boca’s Big Band Extravaganza. This performance transcended Boca Raton, though. It’s going to keep ringing through Florida and way beyond. The Funky Biscuit was packed. The place probably seats less than 200. But there was a plentiful Big Band feast on the table – a performance rich enough to feed an audience of thousands.
Farr, a talented keyboardist and band director, hand-picked some of Florida’s best for his band. The sax section was major-league good – no rookies there.
With these saxes blazing, this band kicked into a Buddy Rich’s arrangement of the “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” hit popularized by The Buckinghams. It was the highlight of the night as the song, raised pulses, blood pressures and heart rates, until the crescendo shook the room.
Farr brought in his son, Matt Farr, to do vocals on some numbers. As they say, the acorn don’t fall far from the tree. Matt who also fronts a Florida rock band, kicked butt, closing out the night with an adaptation of The Beatles’ Come Together.
Danielle Natividad, daughter of one of the band’s trumpeters, Juan Natividad, was hot – great stagecraft and good looks wrapped in purple satin. I haven’t been much of a Lady Gaga fan. But her rendition of Gaga’s “I’m on the Edge” emitted enough energy to light up the Miami Dolphins stadium with the brass and drums behind her conducting electricity of high voltage.
At any rate, for those of you who’ve been doubting that big band is coming back, you gotta hear this band.
Absolutely the best I've heard in Florida. Selection, performance and execution was perfect.
Gary Farr packed the house and went all out Sunday night at The Biscuit. This is big band at its best. The horns are mesmerizing and the drummer is the best I've seen. Going back in February.
The ensemble of this caliber of musicians, all in tuxedos, rocked the house. We knew of Gary Farr and his fine reputation and the top notch musicians but wow, they exceeded our already high expectations. The sound- the selections- the guest singers. Bravo. Will watch for their gigs and hope to book them at upcoming corporate events.
What a great way to start the weekend! Gary Farr went all out on organ and keyboards - and Ron Fattorusso on sax visited every table.
Really enjoyed your performance the other night. Truly excellent.
Gary's group was smokin' hot last weekend. Ron, the sax guy, is world-class. There is some major talent at work here. Saying these are 'all star' musicians is an understatement. It's my understanding that Gary Farr is a composer as well as a keyboard master. At any rate, I enjoyed this music - big time.
