My company has had the sincere priviledge of having Fred Moss provide music for our holiday party for the last three years running. He is a consummate professional and an extremely gifted musician. The only thing better is that he is an amazing person, and has truly become part of our extended company family. About

Fred Moss is a native Louisianan from Shreveport. He was touring with a Top 40 band from Atlanta when he was approached by a manager and was offered the opportunity to join a band in Baltimore. Fred moved to Baltimore January 6th, 1990, and the gig would last for 4 years. He was hired on the Spirit of Baltimore as a house musician, and that job lasted a few seasons. Fred was then hired by the Spirit of Washington as a guitarist/vocals until 2001. By that time Fred had become a top call player in the DMV and started his career as a freelance musician. He started teaching private guitar, bass, and music production at the Music workshop in Towson Maryland. Fred developed relationships and taught many students who are now professional musicians, producers and touring artists. His life was profoundly impacted after meeting his mentor, Carl Grubbs at the Music Workshop. Carl is the cousin of John Coltrane, grew up studying with him and became a world-renowned Saxophonist, composer and educator. Fred spent countless hours with Carl, learning the jazz language and studying composition. He joined Carl’s group and performed with him in various incarnations of his band. He and Carl have performed and recorded original compositions as a duo, and Fred plans hopes to release footage of their music. Carl hired Fred to assist him with his classes at The St. Paul’s Schools in Baltimore, and Fred would eventually take Carl’s place when Carl retired. Fred is now the instrumental instructor at The St. Paul’s Schools teaching jazz, rock and music production to 7th through 12th grades. 2011 was a pivotal year for Fred. He joined the Washington Talent Agency and performed with the band Onyx for 11 years. Fred enjoyed his tenure in Onyx playing for Presidents, Mayors, and sharing the stage with celebrities (The Commadores, Alabama, MC Hammer to name a few). He retired from agency work and started his own group dubbed, Fred Moss & The Funk Band. Fred is now recording his first effort with members of his group and other renowned musicians. He has created his own niche as a solo performer and has several residencies in Baltimore.
