Flamenco & Jazz Guitarist

I began playing music at age 10, starting on piano. He studied piano with an instructor for about a year, studying classical works such as Mozart, Beethoven, and others. At the age of 15, I began percussion studies for did this for one until a friend showed me a song riff on guitar, and I was immediately captivated, and has had an unrelenting passion for music and guitar ever since.
I have over 30 years of playing and performing experience and over 25 years of guitar teaching experience.

In 1994, I composed and recorded a demo of 5 instrumental finger-picking guitar pieces, and in 1995 I continued writing original works and recorded a demo of 5 original rock compositions entitled 'Shades.'

I consequently pursued other musical endeavors, including playing guitar for a couple of different rock bands, performing an array of different rock covers ranging from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Rush to The Clash, Smashing Pumpkins and U2. The other was a rock/funk/soul band called the Street Poets. They played various shows throughout the state of Georgia such as Atlanta, Athens, Carrollton.

After playing with The Street Poets for around 9 months, I began focusing on Latin/Spanish as well as jazz guitar. I formed a duo of Latin/Spanish instrumental guitars called Los Sonidos. The duo performed a hybrid mix of originals, Latin/Spanish standards, and popular songs adapted to a modern Flamenco style. They performed for a year at various restaurants, private parties, and corporate functions.

In 2000 I recorded and produced my own CD of Latin/Spanish instrumental guitar entitled 'Soledad.' On this CD, I recorded three original works and three standards of other composers’ works. I also continued playing solo guitar on a regular basis at restaurants, art galleries, and private parties.

I continued to composer and record original material and by 2006, I had recorded my album entitled 'Cycles,' which is a collection of ambient folk, singer-songwriter, and various soundscapes.

Then in 2008, I began to compose new compositions for what would eventually become the 'Dimensions' album, completing this album by 2017, which is comprised of a wide array of styles and moods, ranging in everything from rock, Latin, folk, jazz, funk, ambient, and classical, and from the perspective of composition, musicianship, stylistic scope, and spectrum of moods, and performance, it is Alonso's finest achievement.

Since then, I have been steadily teaching and doing solo Latin/Flamenco as well as solo jazz performances at various corporate functions, restaurants, private parties, and art galleries, and I continue to compose and record new original material. I have recently composed and recorded 8 newer compositions.
