Rock n' roll inspired aerial acrobatics- if that's what you want! I take inspiration from a punk rock/alternative music background BUT the majority of gigs I do are family friendly fairs and such. I enjoy doing edgier/"punky" acts but I'm happy to perform however you like. I strive for professionalism in my circus business and you can expect things to be done "by the book" and as safely as possible. I have 10 years of training and experience behind me from some of the best coaches and mentors in the industry.
Fierce Circus is the brainchild of Stephanie Santoro. A New England native, Stephanie began her movement career with figure skating as a child. Frustrated with the competitive nature and creative restrictions of the sport, she gave up skating as a teenager and instead submerged herself in the only place she felt like she belonged: the local music/punk rock counterculture. Through the friendships she made in the music scene, she became acquainted with some dancers and actors in New York, one of whom was also an aerialist and aerial teacher... and after some convincing, she found herself on the static trapeze and back into a physical art form. Aerials (and the circus arts in general) are the perfect amalgamation of dance, athleticism, music, and creativity, and the beautiful thing about the circus is that it is so fluid and that there are no rules. The goal of Fierce Circus is to meld Stephanie's two favorite things: Good music and awesome acrobatics. We want to make the music come alive, into a living breathing multi-sensory experience. And we want to push the boundaries of what people consider "normal" circus, and just show our audiences a kickass good time. Forget what you know about Cirque- you can do anything with circus, and we are out to prove that.
Stephanie has been training circus arts with professional coaches since 2007 at various locations including the New England Center for Circus Arts (VT), Streb/SLAM (NY), The Trapeze Loft (NY), Aircraft Aerial Arts (MA) and was a founding member of SHOW Circus Studio in Easthampton, MA. Her primary focus has been aerial acrobatics- the static trapeze has been her forte, but she frequently dips her toes into single-point dance trapeze, Lyra (hoop), aerial fabric/sling, and any other things that hang from the ceiling! Experimentation welcome! She has also done character work and can do stiltwalking for ground events. We also can pull together a team of performers- on various aerial apparatus, and also jugglers, handbalancers, contortionists, hoop dancers, burlesque, comedy, and fire performers. Safety is also of utmost importance to us and if we have concerns about a particular venue, we have a professional rigger we can call on. Feel free to contact us about entertainment for your next special event!
Minimum rigging height- 15 feet. For single point acts (silks, lyra, hammock, single point trapeze) will need a rigging point rated for 2000lbs or greater. For Static Trapeze- two rigging points approximately 25-30 inches apart rated to at least 1000lbs each. For in-house rigging, sometimes I am able to rig myself: if there is a permanent fixed point, exposed beam and access to a ladder or a lift, a truss, etc. Sometimes it's more difficult (i.e. rigging into a paneled or dropped ceiling) For more difficult in-house rigging, generally either you or I bring in a licensed, insured, and bonded rigger. Your venue will incur these costs.
