His music is a perfect fit for a variety of settings including theaters, house concerts, and private/corporate events. In addition to the tunes, your center-of-attention audience will also enjoy a bit of storytelling that describes the impact that the Irish have had on American history and culture.
If you need background music (wedding ceremony/rehearsal/reception, cocktail parties, etc.) Mike can help you there as well. Mike plays a wide array of classical, traditional, and popular favorites and he'll work with you to create the perfect event. Have a favorite song or artist that you'd like to hear? Mike can probably work that into the performance.
Mike Ferry is also a member of Weekend Excursion, a pop rock band that enjoyed significant popularity in the mid-Atlantic region in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Most rock bands don’t come with a violin – but this one does. A diverse set list includes songs by Prince, The Beatles, Tom Petty, and a roof-raising version of Charlie Daniel’s hit, “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.” Weekend Excursion’s stage show is legendary, “guaranteed to succeed” at your next party. These good friends have been packing dance floors since their college days and the on-stage chemistry is undeniable. Their heartfelt love of music means action-packed shows, played with passion and energy.

Mike Ferry is an internationally-known fiddler, songwriter, author, and teacher who lives in the Richmond, VA area. He has performed both as a solo artist and as a member of classical, pop rock, alt-country, Irish traditional, and liturgical ensembles. His work has been featured in the Washington Post, Huffington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Newsmax, Good Morning America, Irish Music Magazine, Virginia This Morning (CBS 6), Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginia Currents (WCVE), Spin Magazine, and radio shows and podcasts around the world. Some of his compositions have appeared in national television programs including “Dawson’s Creek” and “The Real World.” As a performer, Mike has toured throughout the United States and has shared the stage with artists such as Melissa Etheridge, Edwin McCain, John Mayer, Sugarland, The Outfield, and more. Mike's new album, “From Ulster To Appalachia," is a contemporary-sounding collection of Irish, Scottish, and American fiddle tunes. His previous release, “Virginia,” is an instrumental album dedicated to the history and natural beauty of Virginia.
