Mike Wixson has been a radio broadcaster since he was 18. He got his start at CFNY-FM102 as Mobile Mike where he was the guy on the road interviewing bands and hosting community events. After a few years and over 100 band interviews later, Mike was scooped up by CFTR 680 when it was an All-hits radio station. There Mike was teamed up with Jesse and Gene to be their whimsical sidekick. After a year of morning show hilarity he was sent to afternoon drive to work with one if his radio idols, Tom Rivers.

When the station flipped formats to news, Mike made his way to TV producing shows on YTV such as Video & Arcade Top Ten and Clips. After three years of working as a producer, Mike made the move to owning his own shows such as Comedy Funfest (A partnership with CHUM-TV) and several other game shows such as Man-Up, Last Bride Standing and Ka-ching!. Television has been a great career for Mike, but his desire to get back on air lead him directly the last radio station license awarded in Canada to a station called 105.9 The Region, where Mike was both Program Director and Afternoon Drive Host. During the five years at The Region, Mike hosted hundreds of live events in the community and loved his return to radio.

Alas, Podcasting was calling and with a twinkle in his eye, Mike set out to create one of Canada’s first Podcast production companies viewing this new medium as radio’s replacement. Pod Plant which has over the last five years produced over 3000 episodes of podcasts and over 100 podcast series. At Pod Plant Mike not just the owner, he is also the ready-to-go Co-Host for many podcast clients.

Mike is currently in development with a new TV series called Morning Zoo that chronicles these last dying days of radio in a comedic series animated by puppets. Yes, it’s silly as hell!

He continues to host events in the communities he served on radio and works with a number of charities donating his broadcast and emcee talents and production services.
