About
Evan Curatolo was appointed Flute & Piccolo with the West Point Band in August 2024. As a member of the premier band and Staff Sergeant in the Army, Evan functions to serve the United States Military Academy and its corp of cadets through world-class music.
In addition to his full-time position with the West Point Band, Evan also holds regular substitute positions with the New World Symphony and Fox Valley Orchestra. Prior to his appointment with West Point, Evan was runner-up for the United States Army Field Band Flute & Piccolo vacancy. Evan is also an avid chamber musician, and was most recently awarded first prize in the Pittsburgh Concert Society's 2024 Major Artist Competition with his chamber partner and harpist, Arilyn Mitchell.
Evan holds a Bachelors of Music Degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Masters of Music Degree from the Carnegie Mellon School of Music. Evan's primary teachers included Bonita Boyd, Lorna McGhee, Alberto Almarza, and Anne Harrow.
Evan can be heard on the Eastman Wind Ensemble album Brightening Air, featuring original compositions by Eastman Professor of Composition David Liptak, published in 2022.
Additional booking notes
The only technical requirements needed would be a designated area for a music stand and a chair if I will be seated. I prefer to stand for any solo music, but for chamber music I have no problem sitting. I am able to bring my own music stand, but if there will be one available at specific venue, just let me know!
