Best Musician & Wedding Addition

We booked Eugene last minute to accompany our DJ at our wedding reception. He was FABULOUS!! He single handedly kept all our guests on the dance floor, playing along all of our music. His energy, presence and musicality was 10/10. Our guests cannot stop talking about Eugene and this experience. I cannot recommend him or this platform more highly.

Amazing addition to a perfect night!

About

Eugene “With the Talking Sax” Peebles is one of the most accomplished musical talents currently available to perform at any event or function in the St. Louis area music scene. The “Talking Sax” produces a captivating sound on the tenor saxophone which showcases his unique combination of passion, talent and ability to entertain no matter the style of music.

The “Talking Sax” is able to command the stage front and center as well as enhance any event with background music. Peebles customizes his set lists for each occasion. He draws from a wide range of selections from his extensive repertoire of contemporary or classical jazz, R&B, gospel, oldies but goodies and just about any variety of popular music selections.

The “Talking Sax” is a classically trained musician who studied music from an early age. Eugene’s musical career began following a horrific bicycle accident when he was ten years old. His family drew upon their faith and belief in God to heal Eugene. His family’s prayers were answered when he emerged from a coma after ten days. Eugene was encouraged to recover with the added motivation of his father’s promise to provide him with an organ after he was released from the hospital. Once out of the hospital and blessed with the gift from his father, Eugene dedicated himself to music.

Eugene went on to study, piano, organ and saxophone. He quickly demonstrated extraordinary talent with and developed a special love of the saxophone. Hence, the “Talking Sax” was born. Eugene studied classical, jazz, Dixieland and contemporary music. He played in the concert and marching bands throughout high school where he was a standout member. Like many before him, Eugene honed his skills as a saxophonist and organist at his church home, the Devotional Missionary Baptist Church in Kinloch, Missouri-which at that time had one of the most sought after choirs and musician rosters in all of St. Louis. In 1982 Eugene accepted a college scholarship and ultimately earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Central Methodist University while performing with college jazz and concert bands.

After college, Eugene held several positions in the St. Louis business community. At the same time the “Talking Sax” continued to hone his skills as a musician and entertainer while performing at church, for local programs and at countless events. Eugene even served as the Minister of Music for his home church in Kinloch, Missouri.

A well rounded and highly experienced musician, some of the “Talking Sax” notable performances include opening for gospel artists such as John P Kee, The Williams Brothers, Angela Spivey, and the Mississippi Mass Choir. He also performed at home games for the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues Hockey teams. Eugene has also opened numerous NBA and WNBA games with the national anthem. The “Talking Sax” was also featured on Black Entertainment Television’s, “Bobby Jones Concert,” in St. Louis . Eugene was honored to perform for the Airmen at Beale Air Force Base in California. Eugene is a member of the Gospel Announcers Guild and Musicians Association. Eugene, his wife and two children relocated to Northern California for a few years where the persona of the “Talking Sax” matured and developed before returning in 2012.
