Eric is an amputee Ironman. He Inspires by sharing his journey of competing on a prosthetic leg. Running the Ironman World Championships in 2013 was part of an extraordinary experience in Eric's life that he loves to share. As a Marine deployed to Afghanistan, Eric stepped on an IED and changed the course of his life. The damage was an amputation to his right leg. His story begins after the explosion.
Eric set a goal to run an Ironman triathlon (2.4 mi swim, 112 mi bike, 26.2 mi run). He entertains and teaches through his journey focused on his faith, attitude, goals, perspective and priorities. You'll want to hear this.
I hired Mr. McElvenny for our Veterans Day Programs. He spoke twice and was motivational, inspiring, and entertaining during both of his presentations. Everyone can take something way from his presentation no matter where you are in life. I would hire Mr. McElvenny again for any event I would host.

What to Expect
My message will entertain, but more importantly generate action in the audience members. I faced a challenge of losing a leg and wanting to get back to an active lifestyle. We all face challenge. Through my story, I use a lot of humor. My story is also very emotional. I think you'll laugh and cry. At the end of the talk you're going to want to get out of your chair and do something. I want to inspire and generate energy in lives. I just hope that energy is harnessed properly. My stories are told because they've taught me lessons in my life. I want my stories to teach you lessons as well.
Eric is an endurance athlete living in Pittsburgh, PA. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from the United States Naval Academy while preparing for his service as a Marine Corps Infantry Officer. Eric deployed three times as a Marine and on his final tour, an incredible experience in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, was wounded after stepping on an IED. Eric suffered the amputation of his right leg below the knee, a life-changing opportunity that began his next journey. Faced with a physical challenge and an uncertain future, Eric made a promise to himself to run an Ironman Triathlon. On his journey from the hospital bed in southern California to the finish line in Kona Hawaii, he realized that the challenge and adversity he was up against and the techniques he used to reach the finish line could be used against the challenges we all entertain. When not training, racing and delivering inspiration, Eric can be found with his wife and three children.
