About
Andrew Gregg is a pianist and composer from Pensacola, FL, who started playing piano at the age of 5. After graduating as co-valedictorian from Escambia High School, he earned his Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of West Florida, studying with Dr. Hedi Salanki-Rubardt. Along the way, he won numerous awards in local competitions and performed regularly with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, the Jazz Society of Pensacola, and the Pensacola Choral Society. As a composer, his works have stirred the hearts of audiences, most notably with Stellar Radiance, a piano solo that earned him the Henry Fillmore Composition Award, and Ancient Starlight, a symphonic marvel performed in collaboration with Douglas Holsworth and the Pensacola Civic Band. In 2023, Andrew married the cellist Aleksandra Pereverzeva. Together, they form the Gregg Duo, a partnership of profound musical expression. Now, he embarks on the next chapter of his career as a Master of Music student at Southern Methodist University, refining his craft under the guidance of Professor Andrey Ponochevny.
Additional booking notes
If a well-maintained acoustic piano is available on-site, I’m happy to use it. If no piano is available, I can provide a professional-grade digital keyboard, stand, and amplification as needed (no extra charge). Access to one standard power outlet is required if I bring my own keyboard. Performance area should be at least 6 ft x 4 ft to allow for comfortable setup and movement. A flat, dry surface (indoor or outdoor) is required for setup. For solo piano, no microphone is typically needed. For larger events or outdoor settings, I can bring a small PA system to ensure clear sound.
If performing as The Gregg Duo (piano & cello), space and setup requirements are similar. We bring all necessary equipment and will arrive early to coordinate setup and soundcheck.

Influences and inspiration
My musical influences span both classical and jazz traditions, shaping a performance and compositional style that is expressive, refined, and emotionally resonant. In the classical world, I’m deeply inspired by composers like Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, and Bach — artists whose music has shaped my sense of lyricism, phrasing, and harmonic color. Their influence is central not only to my interpretations as a performer but also to my voice as a composer. In jazz, I’ve been influenced by the harmonic creativity and nuance of Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, and Brad Mehldau. Their work inspires my approach to more improvisatory settings such as cocktail hours, lounge performances, and ambient background music. As a composer, my style has been described as Chopin-like, but fresh and modern — rooted in romantic expression and rich, colorful harmonies with a cinematic, emotionally direct quality. My original works are often featured in concert programs and sacred spaces, offering audiences something familiar yet new.
I’m currently pursuing my Master of Music in Piano Performance at Southern Methodist University, where I study under acclaimed pianist Andrey Ponochevny. This continued artistic development allows me to bring both technical excellence and heartfelt artistry to every performance.
