Overview

I am a freelance photographer specializing in events, portraits, food, and weddings. I was a public school teacher for 30 years and taught graphic design, photography, and sculpture classes. I am a traveling photographer, thus I do not have a permanent studio space. I enjoy traveling to where the client wants to have images captured. I especially enjoy large events! I am the lead photographer for the state robotics tournament, and I am the primary photographer for our local renaissance festival.

Amazing and very creative

Dreamsenses Photography is outstanding. The creativity Bryan gives to the photos is exceptional. Bryan is welcoming to all audiences and provides the subject with a comfortable and welcoming experience. The turnaround time from photo shoot to receiving the photos is spot on.

About

Born in Houston, Texas and moved to Iowa when I was three years old. Attended a technical high school and majored in Commercial Art (today's Graphic Design but we did it all by hand). During high school I took six semester of photography, including extensive dark room experience.
After high school I joined the US Marine Corps and aspired to be either a graphic artist or combat photographer, neither one materialized, so I spent my four years in infantry as a rifleman, a records clerk, and finished my four year enlistment as a battalion separations clerk. Honorably discharged with the rank of corporal (E4). During my time in the Marines I spent one year in Adak, Alaska (part of the Aleutian Islands), and Camp Pendleton, California.
After leaving the Marines I traveled back to Iowa and married a girl I met in California. We have two beautiful daughters. I worked in a fish and chips restaurant as the manager, then drove a coffee truck, and finally managed a pizza restaurant before deciding to attend college and become a teacher.
I attended the community college with an emphasis on art and education. I completed my Associates of Arts, and the Associates of Science degrees before transferring to Drake University with a major in Art Education. During my time in school I once again took several classes in photography, including dark room experiences.
My first teaching assignment was one year in the middle school replacing a teacher who had passed away. My second assignment was at an elementary school teaching art and becoming the technology assistant for the building. I spent nine wonderful years in the elementary environment, but was offered a position at the high school level and accepted it.
During my time at the elementary level I also became interested in astronomy and became the president of the local astronomy society. I held this position for the next twelve years.
At the high school level I taught Graphic Design, photography, sculpture, and freshman 2D/3D Art Fundamentals. In 2009 I also become the robotics coach, which I still help with today as the assistant coach.
I retired in 2018 after spending two years teaching at the middle school level.
When I retired I purchased a suite of photography equipment and made the decision to devote my second career to making photos. My initial thought was to capture the essence of people, but I am now doing food photos almost daily for DoorDash menus. I enjoy all types of photos, from weddings, to seniors, to large events. I am the lead photography for the state robotics championship, and I am the primary photography for our local renaissance fair.
I look forward to meeting new people, and providing them with images they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
My motto is: Dream with your senses, Sense with your dreams.... Dreamsenses Photography!
