What to expect
INITIAL CONSULTATION
When you reach out, we'll start with a conversation about your event or photography needs. I'll ask questions to understand what you're looking for: the type of event, key moments you want captured, any specific shots or coverage needs, and your timeline. This helps me provide accurate pricing and ensures we're on the same page before moving forward. Whether it's a corporate event, wedding, party, or headshot session, I want to understand your vision and goals so I can deliver exactly what you need.
BOOKING
Once we've discussed the details and you're ready to move forward, I'll send you a quote and contract. A 50% deposit secures your date on my calendar, with the balance due upon delivery of your final images. This structure ensures your date is locked in while giving you flexibility on final payment until you've received your photos.
PRE-EVENT PLANNING
For events, I'll check in with you as the date approaches to confirm timing, specific shot lists, and any last-minute details. If there are VIPs who need to be photographed, special moments to prioritize, or logistical details I should know about the venue, this is when we nail those down. For portrait and headshot sessions, we'll discuss location, wardrobe, and the look you're going for.
DAY OF YOUR EVENT
I arrive early to scout the venue, check lighting, and get set up before guests arrive. My approach is to be present but unobtrusive. I move through the space documenting key moments, candid interactions, and the overall atmosphere. You'll see me working, but I won't disrupt the flow of your event. If you need formal group photos or specific shots, I'll coordinate those efficiently to keep your event moving. For larger events where comprehensive coverage is important, I can bring a second photographer to capture multiple angles and ensure nothing is missed.
AFTER YOUR EVENT
This is where my fast turnaround makes a difference. Most photographers take 2-3 weeks to deliver event photos. I typically aim for less than a week, and often deliver much faster. I understand that you want to share your photos while the excitement is still fresh, whether that's posting to social media, sharing with your team, or sending thank-you notes with photos included.
WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE
You'll get a complete collection of edited, professional-quality images from your event or session. This includes high-resolution files perfect for printing and framing, plus social media-sized files optimized for quick upload to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or wherever you want to share them. All images are professionally edited with color correction and basic retouching. If you've opted for a web gallery, I'll send you a link to a password-protected online gallery where you and your guests can view, download, and share photos easily. The gallery stays active for one year.
COMMUNICATION
I'm responsive and easy to reach throughout the entire process. If you have questions before the event, need to adjust timing, or want to add coverage, just reach out. After delivery, if you need specific images resized, have questions about printing, or want to order additional services, I'm here to help.

I'm Elliot Powell, a second-generation photographer with over 20 years of experience capturing events, portraits, and editorial photography across Chicagoland. Photography isn't just my profession, it's my family legacy. My father has been a professional photographer for over 50 years, and I grew up learning the craft by assisting him on shoots. That foundation taught me that great photography is about more than technical skill. It's about being present, observing carefully, and capturing authentic moments as they unfold.
My philosophy is simple: be unobtrusive, tell the truth through the lens, and capture what actually happened, not some staged version of it. Whether I'm documenting a corporate event, photographing professional headshots, or covering a wedding celebration, I work to reveal genuine moments and real emotions. The best images are often the ones captured quietly, in the moments between the moments.
Over the past two decades, I've worked with a diverse range of clients including Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, universities, theaters, healthcare institutions, and real estate professionals. I've photographed everything from intimate family celebrations to large corporate conferences, editorial features to nonprofit galas. Each project gets the same attention to detail and commitment to storytelling, whether it's a birthday party for 20 people or a corporate event for 200.
Beyond client work, I serve as VP of the Board and lead photographer for Creative Mornings Chicago, a nonprofit organization that hosts monthly gatherings for the creative community. This role has deepened my understanding of how to work collaboratively with teams, align visual content with organizational messaging, and deliver under tight deadlines.
