About

Alex Moulton is a Denver-based trumpet and flugelhorn player whose work spans jazz, classical, and experimental music. Known for his warm tone and innovative use of looping technology, Alex performs with multiple jazz ensembles and a brass quintet while developing a solo looping project that merges acoustic performance with live electronic creation.

Alex earned degrees from Brigham Young University–Idaho and the University of Denver, where he studied trumpet with Ryan Nielsen, Andy Allphin, David Artley, and Gabriel Mervine. Their mentorship helped shape his command of the instrument and his creative curiosity across styles—from orchestral precision to improvisational freedom.

Drawing on his background in both ensemble performance and solo experimentation, Alex’s music reimagines what a single performer can create with brass and technology. His recent projects explore texture, space, and human expression through sound, inviting audiences to experience the familiar voice of the trumpet in new and unexpected ways.

Whether performing jazz standards, chamber music, or immersive looping sets, Alex brings sincerity, imagination, and technical depth to every performance.
