DJ Woods did a great job at our Meet & Greet. He stayed in touch with us beforehand about the music and setup, and he was helpful with suggestions to make sure everything went smoothly. He arrived early to get everything set up and ready before our guests came in. The music was already playing when people started arriving, the volume was just right, and everything flowed really well throughout the night. One of the highlights was the Family Feud game he hosted. Everyone had a lot of fun with it, and it added something extra to the event besides just having music. DJ Woods was professional, easy to work with, and brought great energy to the evening. We would definitely recommend him and would be happy to have him DJ for us again.

DJ Woods was not originally asked to DJ our baby shower. He was really only supposed to play some music through a speaker, but a lack of preparation on my part placed him in a position where he had to take full control of the music while attending the event as a guest.
Not only did he step up without hesitation and keep the vibes exactly where we wanted them, but he completely exceeded our expectations. He went back to get his laptop and put together an incredible, impromptu DJ set on the spot.
Beyond the music, DJ Woods also helped manage the entire pace and flow of the event, including the games, food, gift opening, cleanup, and making sure everything stayed on schedule. His ability to read the room, adjust the energy, and keep the event moving smoothly made a huge difference in how successful the baby shower was.
This was truly a phenomenal experience. DJ Woods is definitely worth whatever price he is charging, and I will absolutely be booking him for my wedding if he is available.

What to expect
Clients can expect a professional, prepared DJ experience built around the atmosphere they want for their event. I take time to understand the crowd, music preferences, and overall feel of the occasion so the music fits the moment instead of feeling like a one-size-fits-all playlist.
I play a variety of music across genres and generations and adjust throughout the event based on how the crowd is responding. Depending on the event, I can also provide MC support, announcements, and interactive entertainment such as trivia, Name That Tune, music bingo, or other games.
Most importantly, I want clients to be able to enjoy their event without worrying about the music. I arrive prepared, communicate clearly, and focus on keeping everything flowing smoothly from beginning to end.

I’m Desmond Woods, the DJ behind DJ Woods Entertainment. I’m based in North Carolina and have always had a genuine love for music and the way it brings people together. DJing gives me the chance to turn that passion into memorable experiences for others.
I’m laid-back by nature, but I take pride in being prepared, dependable, and continuing to grow with every event. For me, DJ Woods Entertainment is about doing something I enjoy while creating great moments for the people I get to work with.
Additional booking notes
I provide my own DJ controller, laptop, powered speakers with stands, and microphones. I just need access to a standard grounded electrical outlet and enough space for a safe, comfortable DJ setup. For outdoor events, the setup area should be covered and protected from rain or other weather conditions. If the venue has its own sound system, special load-in procedures, or other technical requirements, please let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
For larger events or spaces that may require additional sound coverage, we can discuss those needs ahead of time. That gives them exactly what they need without making the section feel overly technical or intimidating.

Set list
I don’t use a fixed set list because every event and crowd is different. I build the music around the client’s preferences and the energy in the room. A typical event may include a mix of R&B, hip-hop, pop, throwbacks, old-school favorites, line dances, and current hits, with clean and family-friendly music when needed. I also welcome must-play and do-not-play lists and adjust the music throughout the event based on how the crowd is responding.
Influences and inspiration
My influences come from growing up around a wide range of music, especially R&B, hip-hop, soul, gospel, and the music of the ’90s and 2000s. I also enjoy today’s music, so my style naturally blends different eras and sounds. More than any one artist or DJ, I’m influenced by music that creates a feeling, brings people together, and gets a reaction from the room.
