About DJ SouthLAnd

Born and raised in the vibrant streets of Southern California and now residing in Riverside, DJ SouthLAnd has always been inspired by the rhythm of life around him. Growing up in Watts, he found his love for music early on, listening to songs with his grandparents and his aunts and uncles, who were just a few years older than him. The sounds of soul, gospel, hip hop, and R&B became the soundtrack of his childhood. Playing his favorite tracks on his boombox at family events and witnessing how music could bring people together sparked a passion that would evolve into a career spanning decades.

Before stepping fully into the DJ world, DJ SouthLAnd spent 25 years as a basketball referee, officiating high school and college games. This experience taught him discipline, focus, and the importance of staying composed under pressure—skills he seamlessly applies to his craft as a DJ.

As he honed his DJ skills, DJ SouthLAnd sought guidance and inspiration from some of the world’s best DJs, taking lessons and learning techniques that would shape his unique style. Regularly attending events like NAMM, he stays ahead of the game, constantly refining his approach and staying up to date with the latest in music and technology.

Now, with almost two decades of DJing experience, DJ SouthLAnd has become a master of blending timeless classics from the 70s, 80s, and 90s with today’s modern hits, creating soundtracks that resonate with audiences of all ages. Known for his professionalism, reliability, and ability to read the crowd, he’s curated unforgettable experiences for intimate family gatherings, large corporate events, and everything in between. He also incorporates his own beats and original music seamlessly into his sets, tailoring the sound to each event and elevating the experience.

DJ SouthLAnd has been honored to work with esteemed organizations such as the American Heart Association, East Side Riders Bicycle Club, CicLAvia, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, bringing his expertise and passion for music to events that make a difference. Often assisted by his wife, Cecilia, DJ SouthLAnd ensures every setup is neat, presentable, and polished, delivering a premium experience for his clients. Together, they work behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly, allowing the music to take center stage.

DJ SouthLAnd also makes beats with his son, DJ Dez, an incredible DJ and emcee in his own right. This dynamic father-son duo blends their talents to create original tracks and performances that leave a lasting impression, further elevating the DJ SouthLAnd brand.
