Born on Chicago's South-East side, you have this guy that was an uber fan of rap city, video soul, Yo! MTV Raps, The Box, and just about any other music video show there was. My taste in music was always as diverse. It was my born from my mother's love for Motown and other soul music, my aunt's love of prince, madonna, and other Pop music, my uncle's love for Kool and the Gang, Bill Withers, Tower of Power, James Brown that gave me my first grooves. The this cool culture befriended my on it's growth. Hip-Hop was my companion through my childhood, teens, even to this date. More than it's rap component, how it affected disco, soul music, r&b, and other genres made me a true fan and audiophile.
I was the kid in grammar school who recorded radio mixes from WGCI, B96, and 106JAMZ. I remember not liking POWER 92 initially when 106jamz went off the air. Recording on Maxell cassettes. Growing into detailed curated CDs by my teens. When my college years started, I took a DJ class at Columbia College and that's when it hit me that this is a definite path for me. It was short-lived, unfortunately, I had started a family and hit the pause button. Years later, the play button was pressed, and "The B Experience" was born.
I'm an open-format DJ. Not for the typical reasons others may choose such a direction. I'm open-format due to my deep love for music of a vast amount of genres. My Spotify alone holds over 150 playlists with some of these lists spanning over 25 hours of music. It's a centering part of my life that I love sharing with others.
