What to expect

Here are some reviews of Divine Deception

“Jennica is terrifically entertaining and her ‘Divine Deception’ is ambitious with a wildly eclectic song list and costumes aplenty. She sounds like Bette when singing and cracking jokes, and at times uncannily resembles her visually. But it’s not a slavish copy; there’s much of her own energy, freshness, warmth and enthusiasm in the show. I’d definitely return for more.”
Dan Kane, Entertainment Editor, The Repository, Canton, OH

“I will never forget it, you know….. There are but a handful of performers who can step in and out of character effortlessly. There are even still fewer entertainers who can take an audience on a two hour ride in which every moment is filled with something more impressive, more surprising and more than the last. Only a veteran can have an audience eating out of the palm of her hand and make a multi-costumed show with 20 musical numbers look easy. In ‘Divine Deception’, which I had the opportunity to see with a packed house at Theatre 8:15, Jennica McCleary, you are that kind of performer and you are that rare entertainer. You never cease to amaze! It was well worth the seven hour round trip to see it!”
Shane Riggs, Managing Editor, Allegany Magazine, MD

“LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!” -Peter V. Miami Beach, FL

“Coming to the show I had no idea what to expect and didn’t really know who Bette Midler was but I really was impressed with how it all turned out! Jennica was extremely entertaining and so were the back-up

About

Born and raised in Navarre, Ohio, this small town girl began performing professionally at the age of 15. Since then Jennica decided being a triple threat wasn't enough and aimed for Swiss Army knife of talent, taking work along the way as a choreographer, make-up artist, fire performer (Retired) and possibly her favorite job title, Bette Midler impersonator.
As a performer she has worked all over the country including NYC, L.A., Las Vegas and Orlando. Some of her favorite roles include Sally (Cabaret) Lucy (Jekyll and Hyde) Aldonza (Man of La Mancha) and Magenta (Rocky Horror Show Live!) Aside from musical theatre, Jennica has aslo enjoyed her work as a lead vocalist with a number of show bands singing pop/rock, country, R&B and jazz. For the past six years she has also had the pleasure of working as a singer/dancer for the internationally aclaimed Legends in Concert. Putting her contralto voice to good use, singing war era and Rock-a-billy music is McCleary's absolute favorite. She had that very chance with "The Swing Sisters", "Lady Anglea's Cabaret" (creating the role of Ginger Rose) and her solo work at the beautiful Foundation Room inside Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

As a Choreographer Jennica has produced/directed three of her own dance projects entitled "Inspiration" which experimented with a multitude of mediums including video, rain and paint! The piece ROY G. BIV was born during these concerts allowing dancers to perform covered in paint on a canvas which was displayed to the audience after. "Inspiration" was also a developmental outlet for young choreographers in the area who have gone on to great careers. Some of her favorite shows to work on were "Once on this Island" (Churchill Theatre-MD) "Lucky Stiff" (Woodford Theatre-KY) and "The Rocky Horror Show Live!" which earned her top awards as a director and choreographer at the OCTA (Ohio Community Theatre Assocciation) in 2011.

Five years ago while living in Vegas, Jennica began a big adventure several years in the making; Divnie Deception- A Tribute to Bette Midler. After she was encouraged by a friend in the buisness to impersonate Bette because of her strong resemblace to the diva, Jennica took the time to perfect her reinactment before hitting the stage. After meeting Ms. Midler in person, who mistakenly thought a promotional photo for Divine Deception was actually a photo of herself from the 70's, Jennica was full steam ahead! Divine Deception is a two hour trip through The Divine Miss M's best career moments including songs, jokes, banter and more. Jennica also enjoys making smaller appearances as Midler and has performed at numberous clubs, gay pride events in several cities and other LGBT functions. But nothing tops her performance at a nudist colony. For Jennica it's as close to the bath house experience as she cares to get!
