DIANA JELENA
Diana Jelena is a mature professional Belly Dance instructor and performer. She has performed in a multitude of tri-state restaurants and events, and was also a principal dancer with the troupe “Dancers of Samarkand”. Her dancing is always family friendly.
She can provide a multitude of dance performances:
"Full" performances (typical to restaurant/cabarets w/ use of finger cymbals & veil) w/ audience participation (***see below)
Special Occasions (birthdays, engagements, wedding & baby showers, weddings, graduations, etc)
"Bellygrams" (short 10-15 min dance deliveries to pre-authorized places of employment, etc.)
"Prop" performances: wings [gold & lighted LED], sword, Saidi cane
1 hour Classes/demos (perfect for women's groups)
Performances for senior groups, nursing homes, developmentally disabled adults, etc.

Funerals & Celebrations of Life (Diana performs a special routine...dressed in black using a white veil. This performance is to the beautiful 5 min song called "Like an Angel Passing Through my Room".

**Diana's belly dance style is American Cabaret” known for having 5 dance parts which are geared to restaurant & party performances:
(1) Fast opening draped in veil & playing finger cymbals.
(2) Slow veil work, typically to rhumba rhythm.
(3) Fast dancing, often audience participation
(4) Very slow “taxim” to highlight the slow/serpentine movements for which belly dancing is known
(5) Fast ending; typically a drum solo and then a karslima or other rhythm to end/exit the performance
These cabaret performances typically use other “props” such as wings (gold and LED), veil, sword, etc. The focus of her performances is making the crowd lively and happy...she has often received feedback commenting that the party was "dull" until she performed and woke everyone up. :-) Her performances are family-friendly so there never needs to be a concern regarding the ages of audience members.
Diana Jelena provides her own music and bluetooth speaker. She can also work w/ a DJ or other sound person if it is a large event.
This will always vary depending upon the length of performance required and audience. For example, if I am dancing for a Greek audience then the set will include Greek music..if Arabic, then Arabic music, etc. If length of performance requested is 15-20 minutes, then this "set" will include slow & fast songs with varied props and movements.
I have been influenced by my belly dance instructors, the classic Egyptian and Turkish stars who brought belly dancing into the light and onto the stage...Nagwa Fouad, Zohair Zaki, etc. Their pure moves and essence of musical connection has always inspired me. And I have been inspired by all of the live musicians (Greek, Turkish, Armenian, etc.) who provided such amazing music for me throughout the years.
A good sound system is important. Lighting is an added benefit, but she can perform in any lit atmosphere.
