July 5, 2026Desmond blew us away with his renditions of ABBA and Neil Diamond songs. I was worried my father’s 86th birthday would be a drag. I hoped Desmond could bring some relaxed energy to it, and man did he deliver. I think we pressured him into 5 encores.

December 14, 2023For many years, during the warmer months, I am able to enjoy Desmond on a regular basis as he performs daily, outdoors, for the sidewalk audiences and patrons at Bar Boulud, Cafe Fiorello and The Smith restaurants across from Lincoln Center. Desmond is a talented and captivating classical guitarist who also sings in accompaniment to his playing. His performance is the perfect enhancement to the warm, pleasant atmosphere and dining experience. As the menu tantalizes our appetites, Desmond tantalizes our hearing.
I'm looking forward to the change of weather and enjoying Desmond's music!

November 14, 2021Desmond performed for me and my loved ones last night while we gathered to celebrate my close friend's 50th Birthday. He arrived on time and spent the first few minutes setting up his equipment. I was expecting only a guitarist. I had no idea I had hired a singer too! Desmond performed many classic pop tunes by artists such as Neil Diamond, John Denver, Abba and Frank Sinatra. He is a passionate singer and player and I was captivated the entire time. He is also a very nice man and I'm glad to have met him. I encourage anyone who is looking for a singer/guitarist to enjoy the talents of this unique man.

Desmond Ivey, a native of Jamaica from the West Indies, is a virtuoso guitarist whose music transcends genre and geography. Blessed with an extraordinary gift and refined through decades of study, Desmond performs with a rare blend of technical mastery and heartfelt emotion. His vast repertoire spans Classical, Spanish, Jazz, and Sacred compositions — the timeless languages of the guitar.
He studied under Dante Rosati of The Juilliard School of Music in New York, and his artistry reflects the polish and depth of that training.
For over 12 years, Desmond has been a beloved figure at Lincoln Center’s premier restaurants — Bar Boulud, Fiorello, and The Smith — where he has serenaded countless guests exiting the theater and dining under the lights of the city.
