Mix her energy, with jazz, a touch of funky soul and R&B; fill the songs with sincerity and emotion, and you get the sensational Deirdre (pronounced: dee-ear-druh). Her vocal styling is so first-rate that it makes you swoon; her voice is so rich and so passionate that all you can do is close your eyes, enjoy, and just let her be!
As a long time resident of New York City, she was born and raised in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and a great deal of her life has been devoted to music and her aspirations to succeed as a performer. She credits the beginning of her musical development to her family. Deirdre was born into gospel music, cut her teeth on the smooth sounds of Motown, and real soul singers like Chaka and Gladys, Stevie & Donny. She came of age with Prince and other eclectic mixes of music like the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Heart and Pat Benetar. There was no doubt that Deirdre, having been raised around all this music, would turn out to be an artistic spirit. She smothered herself in anything that had to do with music. She credits her further development to an array of brilliant teachers at the famed LaGuardia School of Music & Art where she began her study of classical, gospel music and musical theatre. “…This school forever changed my life…”
This singer/songwriter/actress continues to challenge herself in all aspects of the arts and is creating her own music, television, film and theatre projects. This Brooklyn native continues to challenge herself in all aspects of music and is excited to move forward and launch a new chapter in her career.
