Overview
Death and Saxes is a straight ahead jazz quartet featuring the sounds of the 50s and 60s. Founded by saxophonist John Bouwsma, a Santa Cruz native who spent a decade in New Orleans, the band plays a variety of styles centered around swing and creativity. Behind Bouwsma's saxophone is Harrison Brand on Guitar, Jamie Brudnick on Upright bass and Ben Sibley on Drums. Death and Saxes plays regularly around Santa Cruz county including a monthly residency at Lupulo Craft Beer House. With a wide variety of repertoire, the band can cater to any space or type of event.
