December 10, 2023Musician at Children's Party
David Lester was a very good musician and singer although not quite "engaging" enough for young children. He did play/sing several Christmas songs but could not keep their interest for entire 45 minute program. This could possibly be because there were other activities for the children which were more appealing also. He is better suited for adult audiences in my opinion - very nice to listen to him play and sing. Overall the party was a huge success but not sure musical program is best for future (we have used magicians previously).

December 11, 2017Great Choice for Our Party
We hired David to perform at the American Legion Christmas Party 8-10pm. He was set up early and ready to go right on time. I bet half of the guests asked where I found him and if we could hire him again. 2 thumbs up all the way around! Great attitude. Great musician. Great Time!

December 12, 2016Wonderful!
This was my first time using this site so I was a little nervous. I will say David was incredible! Not only was he prompt and polite but an amazing guitar player and vocalist. He played a large variety of music including Christmas music, Queen, Jack Johnson, James Taylor, Elton John and much more. Our small corporate Christmas party was a huge success in large part to Mr. Lester. I highly recommend!

December 11, 2015Diverse, diligent and doggone great!
David was punctual, a workhorse and had a great repertoire of music. I think he only took one break in 4 hours! His music selection was perfect and he added the right amount of ambiance to make our party a success. Highly recommended!

We hired David to perform at a 70-year-old's birthday party and he was every bit the professional and also a really nice guy. His musical range is awesome and he's one talented performer.

What to expect
Extensive playlist covering a variety of styles including: Rock, Country, Jazz & Classical. These categories are generally not all mixed into one performance but rather, are styles one could expect a whole evening of entertainment from. Do you need background music only? I can do that. Do you want the Wedding March, the Bridal Chorus for your wedding or Pomp & Circumstance for the Graduation Ceremony played on Guitar? I can do that. Do you want your guests to sing along with Classic Songs that never seem to grow old? I can do that. Do you want someone to tell dirty jokes and get dunk while they are playing? I do NOT do that. I show up on time, properly dressed, deliver high quality music, and leave when I am done. No 40 minutes of music followed by a twenty minute break. You hire me for three hours- I play for three hours, period.
About
I play music instrumentally or vocally accompanied by guitar. I can play a wide variety of styles at a professional level including Singer/Songwriter stuff such as Elton John, James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, The Eagles Jack Johnson, etc. Instrumental background music from chord-melody arrangements of pop tunes and jazz standards from Gershwin, Ellington and others to the classical music of Bach, Beethoven and the Boys. I have a Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, Graduate work in Music Technology from IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana. Active as an educator, I have taught for the Ivy Bridge College of Tiffin University, and I currently am Adjunct Faculty of Classical Guitar Studies at Terra State Community College in Fremont, OH, where I have been on Faculty since 2001. As a performer of over 200 shows annually, I have been a full time musician in both Florida and Ohio playing shows for Walt Disney World, Embassy Suites Hotels, Marriott Hotels, The Catawba Island Club, Nor Easter Club and many others. A prospective client can expect non-stop music, meaning no breaks. For me, music is about sharing and I have too much music I desire to share with others to take a break- unless there is a need for announcements or something that would require a pause in the music.
Additional booking notes
I have equipment which requires a small footprint for those venues which only have an area of about 4'x4' for the musician. I also have a Bose L1 system which also has a small footprint while providing sufficient volume and projection for larger rooms. I do NOT offer special effects lighting, smoke, fog etc...just music.

Set list
My set list is too expansive to list here. Suffice to say that I have played gigs as long as Five hours (without a break) without repeating a song. My set list has evolved from customer requests, therefore I really am playing to the people- not just what I want to play or what I SUSPECT people want to hear.
Influences and inspiration
Too many influences to list. The Beatles, The Eagles, Jim Croce, and the greats from the Singer/Songwriter Era. Also the great composers from the American Songbook Era. Finally, I LOVE Classical music- but given its limited audience, I find myself with a smaller audience for Classical Music than Pop Music these days.
Setup requirements
I provide necessary equipment except lighting. I need to be within 20' of electric power outlets.
