Daughter

Maddi Overy - also known as daughter - is a singer, songwriter from Williamsburg, Virginia. She is currently living in Nashville, TN working full-time writing, recording, releasing, and performing her original music. After graduating from Middlesex University and training for two years at the International College of Musical Theatre (ICMT) in London, UK, where she had the opportunity to work with multiple Broadway and West End choreographers, casting agents, and directors, she decided to take her songwriting more seriously. daughter booked sessions with a local producer who helped her record and release her first singles and get plugged into the gigging community in her hometown. She spent the following two years booking shows, traveling and performing with her band, creating content, merchandise and branding, releasing new songs, and teaching music as she prepared to enter a new industry that God was opening the door for. After months of traveling back and forth for co-writes and recording new music in Nashville, she finally decided to make the move and start building a network in 'music city'.

daughter has been performing since she was six, appearing in countless musical productions, plays, showcases and talent competitions, as well as a few music videos. When the pandemic hit, she had time to reflect and prepare for how she wanted to spend the next few years of her life. She used the time to graduate high school a year early and start propelling her career as a performer. She loved dancing, singing and acting, but she began to realize that as much as she loved telling other creatives' stories, she knew God was calling her to start sharing her own. Writing felt natural and necessary to her and, quickly, it became her therapy. While dealing with a broken relationship, homesickness, and a complete separation from her faith in God, she found a way to turn feelings into thoughts and thoughts into lyrics. In the last 6 months, daughter has collaborated with numerous artists in Nashville and had the opportunity to work with members of Song House on her upcoming releases. daughter states, “I could not feel more blessed to be surrounded by such an incredible and growing community of musicians and writers, and to be learning more every day about who I am as an artist and person.”
