Overview
I’m a professional bass guitarist and session musician based in Southern California. I bring energy, precision, and versatility to every performance and recording session — from rock, pop, ska, funk, and metal to Latin and Broadway. I’ve performed nationwide with tribute acts like L.A. Sound Machine (Gloria Estefan), Maiden United (Iron Maiden), and Raise Your Glass (P!nk), as well as original artists including We’re No Gentlemen, The Goodwin Club, Serena Foster, and Bryn Ryan Van-Dyke. Easy to work with, always prepared, and dedicated to supporting the artist and elevating the music — let’s make it happen.

About
I’m Danny “The Melonhead” Knapp, a professional bassist based in Southern California with a career that began when I started gigging and recording professionally at sixteen. My early years were spent building versatility across rock, ska, reggae, funk, jazz, and pop, working in acts such as Feedbags (alongside Scott Johnson of Gin Blossoms), Hawaiian reggae group Mikioi, the Pangean Orchestra, Katie Garfield, and The Bredren, which featured former members of Save Ferris, Jeffries Fan Club, and For Pete’s Sake. These projects gave me a foundation in adaptability and professionalism that I’ve carried into every stage and studio since.
Today, I perform nationally with a wide range of tribute acts, including Maiden United (Iron Maiden), RepliKaty (Katy Perry), L.A. Sound Machine (Gloria Estefan/Miami Sound Machine), Raise Your Glass (P!nk), and Back to Eleven (arena rock). Alongside that, I remain active in session work for original projects such as We’re No Gentlemen, The Goodwin Club, Serena Foster, VK Lynne, and Bryn Ryan Van-Dyke. From hard-driving metal to polished pop, Broadway classics to ska and Latin grooves, I’ve developed a reputation for being the kind of bassist who locks in with the drummer, supports singers and soloists, and keeps the music grounded.
I approach every gig with preparation, professionalism, and the right gear for the job. My role is always to serve the song, keep the groove strong, and elevate the performance without ego. For bands, artists, and projects in need of a bassist who can adapt quickly, deliver with authority, and bring consistent musicianship to the table, I’m ready to step in and make it happen.
