We were searching for a pianist for our wedding and found Rex on GigSalad. His expansive list of songs, and great reviews reeled us in, but we were looking for a pianist who could help us with specific electronic music songs we wanted for our procession and recession music.
Rex's music expertise and impressive intuition helped us to determine what would sound good. He had the patience to figure out exactly our needs for translating our songs. Its amazing to look back on the ceremony and to know we had the most special music for it!
Initially we were going with a DJ for the cocktail hour, but once we realized how great he is with jazz- which is his forte, we ended hiring him for that as well! Our guests loved it.

Rex was perfect from the start: he approached us and wanted to make sure he knew and understood what types of songs and genre. Rex offered to also sing (a big bonus) which was a beautiful interlude to other music played. Guests commented ...so many overwhelmed by the beauty of a real pianist as opposed to music funneled through a sound box.

What to expect
A musical performance that meets or exceeds your requirements and your budget. A good selection of well-chosen songs ranging from classic rock, oldies, jazz standards and contemporary hits. Able to handle requests, especially prior to event, such as special song requests for weddings or event specific material. On time, well dressed, upbeat, easy to deal with, ready to provide a magical result for your event.
Beyond just providing professional music for upscale groups and events, I know what it means to "look good" as a performer, and have specific training and background in stage manners and professional standards. I will be an asset for your event both as a performer and as a person. I strive to always present myself in a positive and upbeat way. I perform to a high standard musically, both as an instrumental player and as a singer. I show up on time (usually early) ready to play (including setting up equipment as required or agreed upon).
I keep my agreements. If for some emergency reason, I find i cannot show up to en event I've booked with you, I will be able to provide a substitute who will meet or exceed my own professional attributes. I make sure the event comes off well for you.
I've done a considerable amount of public speaking at professional events, and have also worked as an Audio-visual service provider and live-sound engineer, so I know how to stage events from those viewpoints, and how to make sure things come off smoothly. I can work with event producers and "talk the same language" and I can also assist in working out best performing scenarios.
About
I've been involved in music since about the age of 4. I have formal education in performance and composition from UCLA, and have years of hard experience on stage in rock ensembles as well as solo performance. I grew up with classical training, and expanded into jazz-fusion, progressive rock and avant-garde forms of music. I've come to love all types of music, and over the last several years began to focus on building a repertoire of classic jazz standards, pop/rock/r&b material and contemporary hits. I'm always adding new material, and I'm happy to receive requests and will do everything I can to play them at your event.
In addition to being a solo piano-vocalist, I'm also a multi-keyboardist (organ, synthesizers, electric piano, etc.), an electronic musician (think Moog, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Vangelis, etc.) a bassist, guitarist, and producer. I have a good grasp of many different performing situations and I command a certain amount of "presence" that may be lacking in other performers who are only focused on just playing piano and singing. I know how to "jump through hoops" to make things work as result of this - I love playing music. I also love to help people, and have spent many years doing humanitarian work, educational work with kids (and adults) and personal counseling. Whatever your event may be about, I usually have some kind of personal interest in really making it come off well!
Additional booking notes
I'm able to supply a full PA system that will accommodate up to about 2,000 square feet or an audience of several hundred (indoor or outdoor), and an electronic piano keyboard. If your venue provides a piano and/or PA system, just let me know, but I can usually provide anything that will be needed.
I'm also able to provide additional players, such as jazz trio or rock quartet, so if you have such requirements, just let me know! I like to have at least several weeks lead time for special requests, but I can handle things on short notice as well.
