Daniel Burton is the first person to ride a bike from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole.
With no prior polar experience, and in fact no prior expedition experience, Daniel set off to do what professional polar explorers had tried and failed to do. After 51 days alone, facing debilitating headwinds, falling into a crevasse, and crossing the worlds greatest wilderness, Daniel succeeded in biking to the South Pole.

The way he presented the story helped motivate me to look at my own life and face my own challenges with renewed determination and toughness.

Daniel Burton was a computer programmer for 23 years. During that time Daniel spent a lot of time sitting in front of a computer and not getting enough exercise. Daniel grew up being active and ,spent a lot of summers hiking in the High Uintas. However it just got easy to be less and less active. Then he went and got his blood checked. His cholesterol numbers were real bad, his blood pressure was high, and he was a few pounds over weight. Daniel panicked thinking, "I am going to die." So Daniel got into mountain biking and it saved his life! His cholesterol numbers improved to healthy numbers, blood pressure returned to normal, and he lost the extra weight.
Then Daniel got laid off. His wife says that he went into mid life crisis, but he likes to think that he just wanted to do something to help others. So Daniel opened a bike store to help others get the health benefits of an active cycling lifestyle.
All of this led to his first in history bike ride to the South Pole.
Daniel loves to share his experience overcoming incredible odds to achieve what many thought was impossible.
