Laughter is medicine for the soul! I am D-Lyte, and I have been serving clean and Christian comedy for over 10 years. I make sure my material is audience-focused and appropriate for all ages and nationalities. I have performed for birthday parties, anniversary parties, and church events, and I've also hosted and MC'd special occasions and corporate events. Dawna Bunton, a.k.a “D-Lyte” has been performing clean stand-up comedy for over 10 years, sharing her gift with a wide range of audiences. She has shared the stage with well-known local and amateur comedians alike, throughout the region, and recently won First place in the 2022 Explore DE Summer Survivor Series Comedy Competition. Her witty, relatable sense of humor crosses ethnic and generational barriers as she often drives home a message of love. She believes that “laughter is like medicine” and so in a sense, her comedy heals hearts – and that is a blessing in itself. Her background in acting lends to some of the animations and voice impersonations that have had audiences roaring with laughter.
A working microphone with good clear sound is required for all performances. If a meal is being served, I prefer to go on before or after the meal. A DJ is preferred (although not required) also so that stage entry music and any music insertions in my set can be easily accommodated.
I admire comedians like Kim Wayans, Small Fire and Sinbad and Cedric the Entertainer as well as Kevin Hart in their delivery and style. Each have influenced my style to some degree.
