Crystal Notez

My songs are usually displayed with props. I make my songs become visual. The audience will see whatever the the is about. For example, I have a song where the main person is mentally insane. For this set, you will see me perform in the character (with other performers on stage) as the insane person...clothes and all.

Crystal Notez was raised by two artistic creative parents; her mother who loves to sing and a father who is an artist. Because of her parent’s talent, Crystal Notez has always been influenced by music. At the early age of five, Crystal Notez first discovered she had a voice in kindergarten when her teacher filtered out all of her peers to see who can sing solo at the graduation ceremony. Since her teacher picked her out, Crystal Notez has found her true calling and has been singing ever since. During the next several years, Crystal Notez has been singing her way thru various talent shows in schools and across New York City. Crystal Notez also pursued a musical education at Five Towns College and Nassau Community College.
Little does anyone know, her great aunt, both Tony & Grammy award winner Ruth Brown, has been a major influence in her musical direction and career. Ruth Brown has been known for records such as “Mama You Treat Your Daughter Mean” and “Tears Drop from My Eyes” and was much known in the Rhythm and Blues genre during the mid-70’s peeking into the 80’s. Ruth Brown was also known as a musical activist who fought for musician’s rights and suitable contracts. Therefore, Crystal Notez already had a strong foundation and outlet to her musical beginnings. Besides her aunt Ruth Brown credited to her musical influences, there’s also Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, India Arie, Jill Scott & Lauryn Hill. Additionally, Crystal Notez has been influenced by legends and greats such as Patti LaBelle, Anita Baker, Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Shemekia Copeland, and John Legend. With such an assortment and variation of musical styles rolled into one, this made Crystal Notez follow in what most current R&B acts forgot to remember: into a sultry, but mind-conscious art of music.
Since the age of 17, Crystal Notez wanted to take her musical career serious but often would find road blocks due to school and people who weren’t supportive of her career; that is, until she rekindled her relationship with her God Brother Liveone who was in the process of building his own music label. Finally Crystal Notez experienced firsthand how to record in a studio, craft records and also learn how to step into her creative side of composing music. She also discovered that she has two musical personalities. One is the cool, calm and collective; the other is the crazy, insane, distracted side she kept in for a very long time.
Now, confident, secure, sassy and ready for the world, Crystal is currently working on her solo debut album with frequent collaborators, producers and songwriters: Liveone, Ebony Eyes and Chase. She’s also the first lady of Liveone Productions plus an accomplished Poet during her spare time. She’s also learning how to elevate her musical skills by taking voice lessons, piano classes, songwriting and studying classical music so that her define style of music will become richer and more heartfelt. She also works closely with artists such as Lord Vital of Construct Build LLC and Logan of MYFAM and continues to build her relationships with other artists and musicians across the globe. Her future sights is set on world tours, Broadway shows and plays, acting and becoming both underground and commercially successful along with her team. There’s no denying greatness and Crystal Notez is no exception. So look out for the newest R&B rarity and embrace her presence.
