June 8, 2026A true highlight of our celebration! Beautiful voice & vibes
We hired Abby to play at our combined graduation and birthday party, and she was an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish. Easy to communicate with, professional, and so accommodating with our requests. Her beautiful voice was the highlight of the party...having her playing in the background created the most lovely, relaxed atmosphere, and so many of our guests commented on how much they loved the music. She's incredibly talented, warm, and pleasant, and brought such great energy to the whole event. We couldn't have asked for a better addition to our celebration. Highly recommend Abby to anyone looking for a singing guitarist who will make their event special!

January 28, 2022The perfect musician - professional, gifted and so kind!
We hired Abby for our intimate wedding and she was an absolute angel in every way. Abby is incredibly professional, kind and super talented. We feel that music is so important for the ambiance of a wedding and we spent a while looking for the perfect sound for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. I was so thrilled that we came across Abby - we found her voice, set-list and general atmosphere completely perfect for what we were looking for.
She performed a stunning rendition of our chosen song for the ceremony that I will treasure forever. She was very prompt, communicative and provided any and all information requested quickly and clearly. I hired Abby with short notice before the wedding and was incredibly impressed by how she pulled everything together quickly, efficiently and with ease to make the event musically perfect :) She even thought of things that I hadn't considered and ensured the performance ran smoothly!
I am so grateful we found Abby for our wedding and would wholeheartedly recommend her - thank you Abby :) !

What to expect
If I am hired for a gig, the client can expect a bespoke, tailored performance and setlist that is appropriate for the event. I am often complimented on the universal appeal of my setlists, and I am very often approached by audience members exclaiming "I can't believe you played that one, it's one of my favorites!" I try to keep a variety of genres and decades in my performances to appeal to a wide crowd, but I am also happy to accommodate any client requests to create entertainment they can be proud of for their guests. I am very well suited for wedding cocktail hours, to create soothing and warm background music perfect for mingling. I also love playing corporate happy hours with an upbeat and fun acoustic vibe! I am always delighted to play, and always delighted to create a wonderful experience for guests and hosts alike!
About
Abby Dormer is a singer/songwriter and gig musician currently based in NYC. Born and raised in Monmouth County, NJ, she has had a wide variety of musical influences growing up that have made a mark on her and have influenced her style. Abby specializes in 60s/70s folk and folk/rock, such as Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor and many of the like - but she is also quite fond of the oldies like Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Etta James, etc. With her Irish-American background (and Irish husband!) she also enjoys playing and crafting a large setlist of traditional Irish music. For gigs, she really enjoys spinning modern pop tunes into acoustic arrangements to breathe a different life into the tune. When she is not singing or writing songs, she enjoys tending to her houseplants and spending time with her pup Gertie, her husband, and her pet snail, Fergus.
