I'm a professional percussionist with over 10 years of performance experience. I'm skilled in drumset, rudimental drumming, steel pan, and orchestral performance. I received my bachelors in percussion performance from Western Carolina University, and I'm currently finishing up my master's degree in percussion performance at Northern Illinois University. Additionally, I have had a myriad of performance experience ranging from performing at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, to performing with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. Connor Butler is a passionate music performer and educator currently working towards his Master’s Degree in Percussion at NIU. Originally from North Carolina, Connor received his Bachelors in Music Performance from Western Carolina University, where he also taught private drumset lessons. Currently, Connor performs with the NIU Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, and Wind Ensemble, as well as the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his studies at NIU, Connor also serves as the Drumline Instructor at East Aurora High School. Additionally, he has performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the North Carolina Music Educator’s Association Conference, and the Illinois Music Educator’s Association Convention. Connor is also well versed in marching percussion, having spent time performing with Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.
Generally, I my only technical requirements are setup space, and advance instrument requests. I'd like to know what I need to bring before I bring it.
I've been influenced a lot by rock music, from artists like Foo Fighters, Rush, Dream Theater, and lots of younger artists like Haken and Mammoth. On the orchestral side of things, I am constantly gaining inspiration from my teachers and the musicians I perform with daily.
