January 24, 2016My experience with Conjunto Picante was incredible-- the night of their performance, I decided that I wanted to book them for a second event! They played at a venue on the Stanford campus, at a salsa social organized by my student organization, Los Salseros de Stanford. It turned out to be our biggest event in several years, with an estimated 400 attendees!
Their musicians are great and truly engage the crowd. Tony, the band leader, is professional in demeanor and communicated with me leading up to the event. I encountered some challenges with organizing the event because of university policies, and Tony was completely understanding and very patient as I worked through these challenges.
All in all, I highly recommend Conjunto Picante.

Conjunto Picante was born from a collaboration of artists from the San Francisco Bay area seeking to express themselves in the field of Salsa. We are an up-and-coming group of seasoned individuals with a passion and dedication in bringing back the 70's chart-busting "Hard Salsa" from such renowned artists as Ismael Quintana, Justo Betancourt, Eddie Palmieri, Larry Harlow, Celia Cruz, Sonora Poncena, Lalo Rodriguez, Louie Romero and other great salsa artists of yesterday and today. Founder and Composer Tony Rodriguez's 11-piece orchestra cultivates a full and vibrant sound, portraying the sounds that are reminiscent of the Salsa era that brought these great artists to the forefront of Latin music!
Our group is a full-fledged latin-style orchestra with typically 9 pieces at a minimum, and requires sufficient floor/stage space for at least this many performers.
Our choice of band repertoire is carefully "curated" by DJ Tony and includes classic, contemporary, and "deep cuts" of Salsa artists from the 70's onward. In-between sets DJ Tony will provide whichever Latin genres you prefer.
