charming and approachable magic

He was a treat. We saw him at the Magic Castle and he was just doing his thing in the basement. He did a card trick that just boggled my mind. Still wonder how he did it...

Great Magician

Saw El Ropo at the Magic Castle 8/9/12. He did amazing rope tricks and coin maneuvers. He also did some great magic involving a ring belonging to a girl in our group--it was truly amazing where her ring ended up!!! Great guy, does well interfacing with people and involves them in the tricks.

A Fantastic Entertainer

Phil Van Tee (or El Ropo as I call him) is a true entertainer. From his magic to his sense of humor to his presentation, he knows how to keep a crowd interested and wanting more.

I had been impressed with his show at the Magic Castle a couple of times, so when I heard he was hired for a late meeting at work, I knew we all had an fun night ahead of us. For hours before and after the meeting, we were entertained with some truly mind blowing magic. It's difficult to say that what El Ropo does are tricks because from my perspective, it looks like straight up magic. Even the biggest skeptics in the room couldn't peel their eyes away; shaking their heads in disbelief, knowing they had finally been fooled.

With El Ropo, everyone is right up close to watch the magic and there is full audience participation. Most of his magic includes coins, cards, and ropes (hence, El Ropo) and I have never seen him repeat a trick. He's in no way a showy magician; he's a very humble guy with a slightly dry sense of humor and the ability to engross an entire crowd. He's so amiable and approachable in his usual bolo tie and cowboy hat that he has no problem mingling and doing magic for any sort of crowd.

His talent and precision of his craft is amazing and will have you feeling like a little kid, wide-eyed and gasping with every move. I certainly hope to see him again soon.

What to expect

You will thoroughly enjoy comedian magician Phil Van Tee as he presents world class closeup magic and gentle audience participation, strolling, table to table, or group to group at your important event.

Please, do not expect magic while your guests are eating dinner (but during cocktails, yes).
It is difficult to get folks to laugh and participate when they have a fork full of food on the way to their mouth.

It is also recommended that your magic happens before any awards, speeches, raffles, or other bits of business, as your audience will be more open to such before having to first sit through a long presentation.

Ideally, you will want an easily visible and well lit area in which to view the fun magical effects, preferably without any overly loud DJ music blaring during the presentation.

If your performance is outdoors, it must in an area free of wet ground or mud (yeah, you'd be surprised where folks want their show , sometimes (-;), and it must be shaded. The subtlety of magic is lost in the glaring sun.

Testimonials

Phil was one of my favorite comics when I headlined him in my comedy club in Colorado Springs. He was one of my favorite comics when I booked him on my Si-T. V. show, "The Latino Laugh Festival" and the sequel, "Inside Joke". He was one of my favorite comics when I put him in my Nickelodeon T.V. show, "Brothers Garcia". And he was one of my favorite comics when I put him in my movie, "Mysteries Of The Maya". You can bet there's lots more to follow!

We could not have asked for a more professional performer. He is great with all ages from kids to old folks. He had something up his sleeve for everyone. We would'nt throw another big party with out him. Now that we are hooked, welcome to the family Phil!!!!

– Rocky Z.

Phil is a phenomenal performer. He had everyone enthralled with his sleight of hand and the lead-in stories really held the kids attention. The show appealed equally to adults and children (it was an 8 year old's birthday party), even my 4 year old son was fascinated. I am looking forward to the next birthday party when I can hire Phil again. He payed special attention to the birthday boy and even taught him a couple of tricks to practice. Overall, he helped me have a successful party for my son.

Phil VanTee was amazing! He was so personable and easy to work with. He was kind, prompt, and his talent was wonderful. My 40 teenage students LOVED his performance. They were amazed and amused. I will have him back every year if he'll come!!!! Thank you, Phil.

– teacher Jennifer Green at Jurupa Valley H. S.

Your performance was superb! The veterans, volunteers, and special guests were overwhelmed at the first rate entertainment. It is a caring individual such as yourself that enables VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System to provide top notch entertainment!

– Carrie L Brandlin, RT/CTRS, Leisure Services Supervisor

From the moment I booked Phil for our event I felt as if I had found a new personal friend. His talent speaks for itself if you listen to his audio clips you will see what a truly talented gentle man he is. What you won't be able to tell from the clips is how personable and friendly he is.... It warmed my heart to be able to find someone as personable as Phil to attend our conference and to watch the rapport he had with not only the adults but the youngsters as well. They say laughter is good for your soul- If that is true- the Phil Van Tee is good for your soul!! I highly recommend this entertainer!

– Carletta Hauck--South Dakota Family Physicians Assocciation

Phil is truly a professional and accomodating in every way. I know from experience that performing in a church requires that a person be sensitive to topics of conversation. Phil was great! He engaged the men at our (Father's Day) event and kept them laughing throughout his set. On a personal level, I was able to spend time with Phil and as a man, he cares about people and has a heartfelt concern about his performances and he takes his profession very seriously. Phil also performed on Saturday morning for a group of kids from a local foster shelter. He was personable, interactive and put on a great show for the kids.......Hire Phil Van Tee!

– Pastor Will Martin of Christ the Rock Community Church

Phil is a pleasure to work with. He is very warm and responsive to our requests. His humor is great, purely down-home and rated E for everyone! We loved the magic tricks, too, especially the audience participation part! He had us amazed and mystified and laughing! Thank you Phil, for a great time!
